Oh dear Lord, Kabar, you are just soooooooo right.
A perfect example of how Bush blew it.
Damn, to give the Dems credit for being patriotic in any damn sense of the word is totally wrong. Bush should have JUMPED all over that question, he should have pointed out, loudly and angrily, that even IF the House of Reps has problems with how he, as CIC, handles the war, they certainly shouldn't be passing a "non-binding" resolution that the rest of the world will surely see as binding and a slap in the face of the leader of our military. He should state loudly for the soccer moms to hear that congress shouldn't be broadcasting all this to world. I still think Americans would understand this.
He just, ladidah, ladidah, ladidah, let's it pass.
I'm not impressed people and nothing anybody can tell me will change my mind. I really believe BUSH can change the tide of this thing but he's too busy defending Pelosi's need for a big-assed jet and just two weeks ago Bush was right here in Delaware, Dupont....to encourage grain alcohol or some such. But Bush was here, right smack dab in Castle's territory with this big win, wooooooo, for little ole Delaware.
Yet Castle, a REPUBLICAN, this week spits in the man's face.
They know Bush is a wimp and if y'all were to be honest with your own selves, you know it too.
The opposition has no respect for Dubya, his own party has little respect, and the hopeful base such as you and I sat and hoped he would be a man and fight back.
I have very little respect for the man.
"I have very little respect for the man."
Gee how would we have ever guessed that? *rolls eyes*
The folks at DU that lurk here are enjoying your agreement with them about the President right about now.
As I just poinnted out to someone else...how about instead of blaiming all of this on one man...you get just as pissed at the Republicans in the House and Senate that are supposed to act as the literal voice of the President in these matters and say the things he can't...and chastize them for remaing so damn silent.
It would appear that the only Republican left in Congress with his testicles intact is Mitch McConnell!!!!!
If Bush had gotten a little anngry and passionate in response to the question, it would have sent a message to the American people and Congress as well. By passively accepting the House Resolution as just a difference in opinion, he has emboldened the Dems to increase the stakes down the road.
I, on the other hand, have utmost respect for his behavior toward his persecutors ... he takes the high road.
The contrast in the manners and grace of his public behavior and choice of descriptives speaks to the high caliber individual he is. The contrast is obvious to the public. He refuses to sink to their level in dialogue .. however, I make no mistake about the warrior he is behind the scenes.
When he speaks, the world is listening to every word ... he knows that.
I grant him the right to some human imperfection, as we all have .. especially since he must be steadfast in his attention to the #1 mission: our protection.
I can't imagine the stress of the ponderous information that fills his day and mind .. non-stop: the daily threat matrix and constant military and intelligence updates about our enemies, changing war scenarios, never mind the tugs and pulls of a president's daily responsibilities and all the political wrangling.
We'll never know the breadth of the chilling information, the terrorists and terrorist attacks in planning, that live in his brain his mind every moment of every day, even when he's jousting with the press in briefings.
He's a grownup.
I don't know any human who could handle so much incoming deadly serious pressure 24/7, from so many sources, any better, and I fear who will replace him. I'm so grateful that he's our president and stands in the breach for US.
God bless and protect President Bush.
President Bush is not a wimp. He may not be your ideal of a great speaker but saying he's a wimp is wrong and disingenuous. President Bush is doing what he believes is right.
That's a lot more than I can say for the Democrats or the Republicans who voted in favor of the non-binding resolution. It's more than those who voted in favor of what we needed to do in Iraq and now want to change their minds because the left has influenced polls.
Now....Harry Truman.... there was a man.
When his War in Korea was going very badly (11,000 Americans killed in 6 months) Truman was "manly" enough to draft thousands more young American men and to censor the press*.
Does anyone think the Democrats would smilingly let Bush censor the Press the way Truman's administration did?
Truman didn't cut and run. He had a few tricks up his sleeve.
6 months and 11,000 US deaths into the Korean War
Truman drafted thousands and censored the press
