Indeed. The baby's arm is hanging down and the man's left forearm is under the baby's head. The picture looks authentic to me.

I agree 100%, and don't think for a moment I want this to happen. My point is simply that if it does happen, let it happen to those who need the wake-up call so that we can marshal the political force to eradicate the threat. I don't deal with these issues at an emotional level. I'm a pragmatist.

Dave Grossman bump. If you ever get a chance to attend a lecture, speech, or seminar by Grossman, do it! He is awsome! Any link to him/his material?

Those look like tropical plants in the photo to me. This is from Beslan? Could've been from the tsunami (which was my immediate impression on seeing the photo- not sure why).

>" Across a three-day siege, 700 people were wounded and 338 killed, including 172 youngsters."And just what did Pooty do about that?......... Not much. Oh yeah he resupplied arms to Syria and Iran to continue the roundabout.

We should respond with the wholesale nuclear destruction of the entire Islamic world and be done with it.

There is no eradicating the threat, terrorism has always existed.

I believe he's calling for the bombing of the Middle East, Indonesia, Malaysia, parts of Africa, Sir Lanka, Bangladesh, and parts of Brooklyn.

One more reason to keep my kids out of the public schools. I have my kids in Catholic school, which I think is a more likely target.

Is John Q. Public ready for this? Having Pelosi driving the cart of the House is scary in a situation like this.

Thanks for the ping. I've been concerned about multiple "Beslans," conducted simultaneously in the US, ever since the actual Beslan took place. Avoiding or preventing them probably isn't dependent on who is in the Speaker's chair.

I have spent a couple of years working on a safe schools project. What I find alarming is that, in many of our schools, the administrators have no interest--no desire--in simple building security.
I firmly believe that our soft targets (i.e., malls, schools) will become graves if ANY terrorist organization pulls off an attack.
I also believe that parents who put their kids into public schools should take a high level of interest in the security of the building. Are doors left unlocked? Is there an emergency plan that is rehearsed? Are classroom doors closed and locked during class? These are basic fundamentals that would--at least--slow down an assault.
