The president has nudged support for the troop increase to 35 percent from 26 percent in early January. Sixty-three percent of those surveyed still oppose the increase.
Two-thirds of those questioned oppose cutting money for the troops and 60 percent are against cutting money intended just for the additional troops.
Nearly half of Democrats oppose cutting money for the additional troops and almost two-thirds of those who know someone who has served in Iraq oppose that idea.

The new build-up is already covered under our current budget. The Sep 2007-Aug 2008 budget is another story. That's where they can hurt us.
The internals mentioned in the article show that this is all a very dicey affair for the Dems. Come on, Murtha and Miss Nancy, step in it!
And this is a poll of "adults". I bet voters and likely voters lean even more towards supporting Bush' policy.
"And this is a poll of "adults". I bet voters and likely voters lean even more towards supporting Bush' policy."
For those who requested an explanation:
Registered Voters tend more towards Republicans, and likely voters even more so. When they question "adults" they include people who don't vote and aren't even citizens, those tend to lean more liberal.
So if x% of polled "adults" support Bush, than it's probably x+5% of registered voters and x+10% of likely voters support him. The difference is not quite as large, I was just making an illustration.
That is good but I am so tired of this war being identified by polls, % of those polled say this, that, makes me want to puke.
"And this is a poll of "adults". I bet voters and likely voters lean even more towards supporting Bush' policy."
Very good point. I hadn't noticed that.
And even with that:
"Two-thirds of those questioned oppose cutting money for the troops and 60 percent are against cutting money intended just for the additional troops. "
The Dems better think twice before cutting off funding for the troops.
Ditto your comments, young man!
I have said all along that the American people will never support cutting funding to the troops, either to the ones already there or the surge.
But this won't matter to the DEMS who keep stating that the President is ignoring the American People on the surge, they will still try to establish a vote to cut the funding, even though this poll shows the American People are against that issue.
Hey Dems: The American People Have Spoken !
I bet the poll numbers will be even better in a couple of days, but, of course, it depends on who does the polls.
Regardless of the polls, Bush will continue the war as he sees fit. The polls be damned!

The surge seems to have started well and our guys aren`t there yet? Watch the Rats try to take credit but, this time, it won`t work and it`s going to be a hoot watchjng them. GOD blerr President Bush and the troops.
We will prevail in Iraq. The democrats will end up looking just like the fools and traiters that they are.
GW Bush will come out of this looking like a genius. Patience and faith in victory will win out in the end.
Our armed forces are heroes! GOD BLESS THEM!
Now if the President can go to Iraq and show his support for the troops and say we can win. He would get a surge in the polls.
