Bill Simon: I think Rudy will make an extraordinary President. I don't know of anyone I'm in 100% agreement with respect to every issue -- even my fellow conservatives. So I'm not troubled if I don't agree with someone on every issue as long as they demonstrate very strong leadership qualities, which Rudy does, and a very strong sense of public service, which Rudy does, and a very firm agenda in areas that are important to me and in a way in which he can execute -- all of which Rudy does.
When you think about the priorities he's expressed -- things like national security -- I don't know of anyone better in the public arena now who can handle issues of national security better than Mayor Giuliani.
And when you talk about issues related to fiscal conservatism, which are important to Rudy, I don't know anybody in the public arena who has cut taxes 23 times as Rudy did when he was mayor of New York; who has shrunk the size of government, which he did when he was mayor of New York; reduced the welfare rolls by over 50 percent, which he did when he was mayor of New York. And that's not going into reducing crime by 65% and many other things that he did while mayor in a situation that, before he became mayor, was widely regarded as the second toughest job in American politics, and was widely regarded as an ungovernable situation.
I think he did an extraordinary job as Mayor of New York in a Democrat-controlled environment, and being able to function as a fiscal conservative in that Democrat-controlled environment is an amazing achievement.
Cunningham: How long have you known Mayor Giuliani?

Gee, I don't know. Why don't you ask all the staunch conservative who are supporting him like Newt who stopped just short of an endorsement (because he isn't sure if he'll run despite having higher negative numbers than Hillary) or Rep. Sessions who has a 98% lifetime conservative rating.
I could go on, but you get the idea.
Yes, I agree.
Defending Rudy is not the same as an endorsement and we need to make that distinction.
But there are a lot of hard line conservatives making a good case for Rudy it is worth noting.
Well, he certainly has a right to his opinion...
I think, before the primaries, that Rudy is going to ease people's minds on the gun issue.
As a gun owner I sure hope so.
...very true....honestly I would prefer a Duncan Hunter but don't think he has Rudy's leadership skills......I am not a fan of some of Rudy's positions...but on the important ones like the WOT and taxes etc.....and executive leadership, I totally agree with him....and at this point....at least to me, they are the more important things....I don't believe he'd mess around with Roe...and am one that agrees that he most likely was tough on guns on NY cause it was a necessary evil...would doubt he would expand that nationwide....but I"m still looking at all of them....
NorCalRepub has a good point on post 32.
We may want to remember the difference between defending and endorsing. And perhaps word the list that way.
Another "RINO." LOL!
We will not, under any circumstances, vote for a liberal Rudy. We're not liberals. Period.
If the Republicans choose a liberal candidate, they're going to lose. Without the Conservative vote - they're toast.
LOL!!! :)
Boy, isn't THAT the truth!
With RINO-rudy, we conservatives can't agree with his views much more than, what? 10% MAX?
Is 90%, or maybe 80%, or EVEN 75% agreement on the issues of importance to TRUE CONSERVATIVE AMERICANS TOO MUCH TO ASK?
Just say NO to ANY and ALL LIBERAL RINOS.
STRONGLY Catholic, STRONGLY anti-abortion.
Welcome to the Rudy list. Just be sure to put your flamesuit on :-)
I decided to stay up a while longer and enjoy a few articles like this one.
I have a suspicion that he may, as well. Remember, the gun lobby is still a very powerful group and there are a lot of Dems who are supporters in Congress. I believe that in spite of what the liberals are saying, that the gun issue is still too hot for the Dems to mess with.......I hope.
...that is a valid point....but unless Duncan Hunter gets some traction....who exactly it the true conservative in the race?......One reason why I have not made up my mind yet....too early....
In this case you get HILLARY.
We are all brave souls, thinking we can do it together so no one person is overwhelmed by the task.
I found a really good website run by the California GOP called the GOP Flash Report:

Please take me off the list. thanks.
