Then, perhaps you are wrong about your assessment of Duncan Hunter's charisma. ;-)

I was never impressed with him on television.

However, in person, he was the most charismatic person I ever met. I understood instantly why he inspired such loyalty in those who worked for him - which was his political salvation, that those who worked for him and knew him were willing to do anything for him, including go to jail.
