Lincoln never actually said that. The quote was invented by a writer at Insight Magazine years ago.

Lincoln did write once about exiled anti-war Democrat Clement Vallandigham:

"Long experience has shown that armies can not be maintained unless desertion shall be punished by the severe penalty of death. The case requires, and the law and the Constitution, sanction this punishment-- Must I shoot a simple-minded soldier boy who deserts, while I must not touch a hair of a wiley agitator who induces him to desert?"

Basically suggesting the same thing. But there never was any execution. Lincoln commuted Vallandigham's prison sentence and exiled him. Vallandigham returned to America years later and went back to work for the Democratic party.

Yes, Harvey started by touting Murtha as a quiet war hero. He then referred to him as a kindly Catholic grandfather. Harvey always sounds like an ass when speaking about the war, so I wasn't surprised.

I don't care for Harvey anyway because I find his bits completely useless. There might be some cave-dwelling idiot somewhere that actually gets their news from Paul Harvey three times a day, but the fact remains is that he's even more obsolete than a newspaper. This just makes it worse.

Murtha is a traitor and a criminal - plain and simple. Maybe he was a good soldier some time ago - but he's a worthless sack of crap now, and that's what counts.

I can tell you from experience this weasel traitor doesn't know what he's talking about. Most of those troops are already there and the rest are on the way. Regardless attempting to cut off training funds to active units is serious business, it won't hurt the Troops there now or those who are going , it'll hurt the unit's that will be rotating to Iraq to relieve other units there. It's a sad day in America when an azzhole like murtha can go on the record with such treasonous language and get away with it..GOD HELP US ALL..Remember What will they do when ask?
