GUADALAJARA, Mexico — A federal court has cleared the way for TV bounty hunter Duane "Dog" Chapman to be extradited to face charges in Mexico, court officials said.

Norma Jara, a spokeswoman for the second district court in Guadalajara, said the court rejected Chapman's injunction request, ruling there was no reason not to try him with the charge of deprivation of liberty of Mexico.

"We only just heard about the Mexican court's decision to continue with the extradition proceedings, and are still in shock," Chapman and his wife, Beth, said in a statement issued Thursday night in Honolulu.

I'm not convinced on the whole lawyer thing. Dog is a bond enforcement officer, he understands how bail works, and he should have a concept of how TV works. I mean basically the lawyer said "it's a misdemeanor, you'll fly under the radar" somewhere in the back od Dog's brain he should have thought "flying under the radar isn't a good plan, anyway I'm trying to become a TV star and if that works I will definitely not be under any radar".

I'm glad Luster is off the street, I just wish Dog had been a bit more anonymous about the whole thing.

I think I might have read a while back that Dog didn't pay his Mexican lawyer all that was owed him, so his lawyer eventually stopped protecting him. Might there be anything to that?

Any idea why Dog didn't get to collect? Was it to avoid problems with the Mexican authorities?

Don't know. But if his lawyer really did advice him to skip bail the guy doesn't deserve any money.

He didn't collect because he violated Mexican laws and was not acting on any legal authority.

Mexico has extradited 77 criminals to the US in the past 15 months."

Only because the Fed DA wants them to swear they were roughed up by a Border Patrol, give them immunity for their crime, and invite them to spend the night in the Lincoln bedroom.

Thanks for the feedback. I guess the California bail law renegs on prize offerings IF laws are broken to win them, then?

Godspeed to Dog(Duane), Leland and Tim, and many prayers for Beth, their kids and the rest of their family. This is a terrifying thing for any family member to go through. :*(

That having been said, you can't go to another country, break its laws and expect to get off scot free.

Unless you are entering the U.S. illegally.

Personally, I favor changing that. In order to be consistent, I have to therefore approve of prosecuting Dog to the full extent of the law.

"Snicker. Am I the only person who thinks "Dog" is a clown?"

No, you're not the only one. I happen to think he is a clown too.

"That having been said, you can't go to another country, break its laws and expect to get off scot free. We would are outraged when Mexico fails to hand over their criminals to us, we can hardly refuse to do it ourselves."

Exactly. I could not have said it better myself.

I don't see why the US should give him over to Mexico

Because he committed a crime in Mexico and there's an entradition treaty?

Would that be a good reason?

I think you'll find that they're both criminals.

Well, at least no criminally violent good deed goes unpunished.

No Luster is the criminal. Perhaps you are not familiar with the whole thing.

After the story broke, I tried watching his show, I could only stomach about fifteen minutes of it. He and his wife look like trailer trash, but just the same, I really don't want to see Mexico win this one.

If only we had devoted half the resources spent on regime change in Iraq instead to regime change in Mexico...sigh.

No Luster is the criminal. Perhaps you are not familiar with the whole thing.

Do you deny that Dog entered a sovereign nation, a nation with which we have an extradition treaty, and broke that nation's laws?

Is that how "familiar" you are with "the whole thing"?

I can see you're not familiar with the situation.
