Regardless of any spyware issues, I keep reading and reading and haven't found a compelling reason why Vista is a great innovation. Even saw a written interview w Bill Gates in which he had trouble answering why someone should buy Vista. After saying they should try it for a few hours, he was mentioning better security and a better search program. whoopdy doo.

seemed very telling that he was more conversant on how MS is already working on a new system for 5 years from now, and how they will get all the feedback from users on why Vista isn't good enough. That's actually what he said.

I keep reading and reading and haven't found a compelling reason why Vista is a great innovation.

I have done the same and drew the same conclusion.

Nothing I've read about VISTA makes me want to run out and buy it.

The features include putting all media within a click or two. Big deal. Free add-ons to XP can do the same.

The features include trying to restrict media from running unless it passes VISTA approval.

Per some beta reports, VISTA would sometimes go bonkers and identify legal software and hardware as being illegal, and thus block it from operating.

And all this for the low price of $99 for the VISTA Home Basic and upwards of $350 for the Ultimate version.

[I'll stick with XP at least until the release of VISTA SP1.]

Vista has better security and better user intigration FOR MICROSOFT.

As a monopoly, the user is the LAST thing on MS's mind.

I read something over on /. or Ars Technica, regarding those plans being 2 years out, not 5. And it was a recent article; like the past week or so, and quoted vista's product manager.

vista has serious problems/issues and EULA and driver issues are just the tip of the iceberg.

If you want a really good read on the issues I suggest A Cost Analysis of Windows Vista Content Protection
