It's illegal and a misdemeanor, their attorney said to leave because it was so trivial, it wouldn't be pursued. They are clearly making an example out of him. From what I have heard from people who travel to mexico is that if you are in a car accident, don't stop, get back to the US pronto.
It also makes me sick that our country seems to kowtow to mexican demands all the time while their illegal citizens that number in the 10's of millions here are bankrupting our hospital systems and raising insurance rates for health, auto etc for all Americans.

Well they got bad advice from their attorney. And given that he is a bounty hunter he should have known better. He was arrested and let out on bail, he should know how this system works. Definitely one shoud avoid dealing with the Mexican judicial system as much as possible.
Of course the reality is nothing about illegal aliens has any true direct bearing on Dog's situation. He broke Mexican law, got arrested, was released on bail, and didn't return for his court appointment. People get extradited to and from Mexico all the time, what makes this a big deal is that Dog has a TV show.
