The story makes the point very clear that his views and positions on issues is largely unknown. When informed the response was predictable. Rudy should have stopped at his peak.

I will only vote for a conservative. It would sure be nice if the Republicans nominate one.

As to the polling data, the article probably is referring to what HotAir summarized here:
http://hotair.com/archives/2007/02/15/worrisome-giuliani-poll-data-of-the-day/
Short version is that about 1/3 of polled PRO-LIFE Republicans -- ones who told the pollster that they'd be much less likely to support "pro-choice" candidates -- currently appear to believe that Rudy is "pro-life".
Whatever you think of Rudy, and I happen to like about half of his stances and dislike others, this polling data suggests that Rudy will have to retreat somewhat from his current 30%ish polling numbers, once his candid pro-choice positions become better known to GOP primary voters. Doesn't mean he can't win, but he probably won't coast to the nomination.

basically this article states that most Republicans don't know the full extent of Giuliani's liberal positions. When they learn he is pro abortion rights, pro gay rights, pro gun control, he probably won't get the nomination. I lived in New York and already knew he was pro-abortion, pro-gay rights, pro-illegal, and anti-gun. I always wanted him as NY's senator or governor, but never as president.
I need to know where he stands on eminent domain and "environmental issues" before I rule him out altogether (since Hillary would appoint Carol Browners and Patrick Kennedys and Al Gores left and right), but Rudy and my vote sure aren't looking like a match right now.

The RATs will definitely get your guns, and my guns too, if we allow the RATs to win the 2008 election. We have 4 Conservatives on the court and one moderate. Gun rights are too important to have to rely on a moderate Justice. We need to appoint one more conservative jurist to insure that the 2nd Amendment won't be triffled with. I'm asking you to join me in supporting the GOP standard bearing in 2008, because I trust that the the next President, will nominate originalists and strict construtionists to the especially important SCOTUS, and the Federal Applellate Courts. For me, it's all about the Federal Courts.

I sure as heck won't vote for him in the primary but I might hold my nose and vote for him in the general election.
I hate myself for considering it, I may not vote at all.

Rudy Guiliani will be the Gary Hart of 2008, He will be crushed by the Dims. He is very crushable. We have crushed him for weeks here, wait until it matters.

I'll hate you too...lol. Hillary must be defeated, so the GOP nominee gets my vote regardless of who wins the nomination.

I completely appreciate your desire for a "conservative"
I want a leader first - a conservative second.
Scary times - you know?

"What about Rudy makes him a 9/11 hero, or 'qualified' to fight the WOT as commander in chief?" I have been asking the same question for months. I have yet to see anything specific.

It could be the fact he supports a gay organization with communist, anti-war ties. yeah, that's how libs support the WOT.

Sure there is. He's said he wants to appoint federal judges like Scalia, Roberts and Alito; and he supports the WOT domestically as well as overseas.
Not saying that he's my guy (q.v. his positions on global warming, abortion, 2d amendment and illegal immigration), but to say there's no meaningful difference between him and most national Democrats is wrong.
But if you look at the judges he actually DID appoint (as I understand) the Dems would have no problem. And don't many Dems "support the War on Terror" if not in Iraq?
