Giuliani: Can hero of 9/11 win over his own party?
USA Today | 02.01/2007 | By Susan Page

Views on social issues could cost him Republican Party's nomination

Can't post USAToday content, but basically this article states that most Republicans don't know the full extent of Giuliani's liberal positions. When they learn he is pro abortion rights, pro gay rights, pro gun control, he probably won't get the nomination. And they say this is according to "GOP pollster," Tony Fabrizio.

Most people who run for public office aren't even fit to lead me out of a burning house, so I place almost no value on this nebulous, mythical thing called "leadership."

Dinkins was Mayor in '93....but what the heck...

And the Giuliani administration had eight years to correct a number of serious flaws in the city's police/fire operations that were exposed in the aftermath of the 1993 attack.

The only notable course of action they took over those eight years was to construct a brand new state-of-the-art emergency response center -- RIGHT AT WHAT TURNED OUT TO BE GROUND ZERO ON 9/11/01.

So Giuliani is to be faulted for not preparing for what no one saw coming? And are you discounting everything he did do to clean up NYC?

Don't like him. Don't vote for him. But trying to tar him with responsibility for what happened on that day is sheer ignorance.

The Towers had already been targeted once. Putting the command center there wasn't really that smart, and it didn't require a rocket scientist to realize it.

It had been targeted with a truck bomb, not airplanes.

Your logic only makes sense if they'd placed the command center up there with tourist guy.

It was a target, and everybody knew it. But whatever. Calling Giuliani a hero is a travesty. The only heroes I know of took out terrorists on Flight 93 that day, or went up the stairs of the WTC when everybody else was going down.

"He's said he wants to appoint federal judges like Scalia, Roberts and Alito..."

Why would he want to appoint judges that oppose his political position on abortion, gays, guns...?

Has he ever said a word against Roe v. Wade, Doe v. Bolton, Bowers v. Hardwick, Romer v. Evans, Lawrence v. Texas...etc?

No, he's pro-actively praised all the big liberal judicial-activist USSC rulings.

And he would do a U-turn on this....why?

If you'll try to keep up with the conversation, I was addressing the ignorance of blaming Rudy for what happened on 9/11.

I don't know that I've ever called him a "hero" for what he did that day.

But in the aftermath, he was one heckuva leader, as was the President.

No, that is not so. LIEberman has a better LIBERAL record than Hillary has. All of this ridiculous adulation of LIEberman here, is patently ridiculous. Where Rudy is for tax cuts, cutting the size of government, doing away with set asides for minorities and women, doing away with open enrollments at colleges, for vouchers and charter schools and much, much, MUCH more that all Conservatives keep claiming that they want, LIEberman is for NONE of them.

Well, that "one heckuva leader" is also a gungrabber, one who has taken actions as egregious as any gungrabber in America. Ultimately, such enmity to the Bill of Rights is the biggest threat to Americans of all. And then there is his support for open borders...

If a gun grabbing socialist wins the republican nomination, then the republican party will have been compromised.

[.. I'm with you. Rudy's never gonna get my vote. And, frankly, if it comes down to Rudy or Hilary, it's all over anyway. ..]

True.. ONLY Newt has the gravitas to combat Hillary..
Rudy's too wierd.. Literally as wierd as Richard Simmons in a Turkey suit..
Anyone that would vote for him as President.. is wierd too..
NYC(gomorrah) is pretty wierded out..
