You mean Sweden is now tougher on illegals than we are? What's next? France telling rioting Muslims to behave?

"You mean Sweden is now tougher on illegals than we are"

Hardly, they are the most liberal in the world- literally- and their city of Malmo is overrun with Muslims because of it. This appears to be a belated reaction, but it's contrary to most of their policies, which to this day allow tens of thousands of Arabs to seek Asylum each year.

One doesn't have to be Albert Einstein to figure out what can be done with certified EU IDs in the context of illegal immigration. Please consult the link I posted above to a prior Sweden post to this forum.

Concerning Sweden, these facts ought to be considered:

- Sweden is a small country, heavily dependent on the ways in which she can make use of a set of few, but extremely valuable resources; competent export oriented corporations, international goodwill and very high levels of education.

- Sweden has always been a strong supporter of human rights (something which is connected to the pursuit of international goodwill), among them declarations like the Geneva Convention and the United Nations Convention Relating to the Status of Refugees.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Convention_Relating_to_the_Status_of_Refugees

- Sweden is one of the most centralized and bureaucratic countries on earth. If Prussians were rigid, hard drilled militarists, Swedes are rigid bureaucrats, and we were there before Prussia existed and has survived that particular german project by more than 125 years. Centalized bureaucracy is an age old institution to Swedes nearly as much as Swedish nationality is. Once we've signed a document, especially one that has provided us with benefits on the global scene, we stick to it.

However, although Swedes sometimes seem overly PC and naive, I'd like to say we are rather clear sighted when given time - and we do take advise from others, even though we sometimes appear to be know-all wiseacres.
