Does anyone from NC know if Howard Coble and Walter Jones are original Tarheels? If they are they aren't standing up to the NC tradition of "sticking" to the ground. They make me ashamed to be from NC.

Walter Beaman Jones Jr., born in Farmville, North Carolina, February 10, 1943, is an American politician. He currently represents North Carolina's 3rd Congressional District in the United States House of Representatives. His father was Walter B. Jones, Sr., a Democratic Party congressman from the neighboring 1st District.

Howard Coble, born in Greensboro, North Carolina, March 18, 1931 is a Republican Congressman representing the 6th district of North Carolina. After high school, he initially joined the United States Coast Guard, serving for over 5 years and staying on as a reservist for an additional 18 years. Upon discharging from military service, he attended Guilford College, from which he received a history degree. Coble then moved on to the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill and earned a degree in law.

Both are native North Carolinians and not "yankee transplants". Jones comes from a hardcore DemocRAT family and only "joined" the GOP in the mid 90s so he would be more "electable". I don't know what the deal with Coble is, he's normally very conservative.

Getting a primary challenger for RINO Walter Jones SHOULD a top priority next year. His "values" come from the latest opinion polls. According to the non-partisan National Journal, which ranks all members of Congress on the liberal-conservative spectrum, Jones sits almost exactly in the ideological center of the U.S. House of Representatives. The guy constantly stabs Bush in the back on the Iraq War.

You think freepres would care, but instead, we see a zillion vanities whining that Lindsey Graham in neighboring South Carolina is the real enemy, even though Graham strongly supports Bush in Iraq and has a lifetime conservative rating of 91%.

Apprently some freepres think Graham is "too liberal" for South Carolina but Walter Jones is just fine and dandy to have in North Carolina. No wonder Nancy Pelosi controls the House when you look at the priorities of some "conservatives"
