Brandeis Donors Exact Revenge For Carter Visit
The Jewish Week ^ | 2/16/07 | Larry Cohler-Esses

Major donors to Brandeis University have informed the school they will no longer give it money in retaliation for its decision last month to host former President Jimmy Carter, a strong critic of Israel.

The donors have notified the school in writing of their decisions ? and specified Carter as the reason, said Stuart Eizenstat, a former aide to Carter during his presidency and a current trustee of Brandeis, one of the nation?s premier Jewish institutions of higher learning.

They are ?more than a handful,? he said. ?So, this is a concern. There are evidently a fair number of donors who have indicated they will withhold contributions.?

Brandeis history professor Jonathan Sarna, who maintains close ties with the administration, told The Jewish Week, ?These were not people who send $5 to the university. These were major donors, and major potential donors.

?I hope they?ll calm down and change their views,? Sarna said.

Good for them. Hitting lefty organizations in the pocket works. My alma mater suffered a similar hit when the students booked Michael Moore. When the U called me up for the annual donation, I explained how I wouldn't be giving them a dime that year because of the Moore event. I explained that the U was free to provide a forum to anyone they liked, and I was free to not subsidize their actions. I wasn't the only one to withold donations--the U reported that that stunt cost them hundreds of thousands of dollars.

"I hope they'll calm down and change their views," Sarna said.

What an arrogant, condescending comment.

However with free speech come responsibility for what you say

Bingo. A little lesson that fool Carter has never learned: there are consequences to being an anti-Semitic moonbat leftist anti-American looney, and not all consequences are nice, like a Nobel Peace Prize, which he received for making anti-American, anti-Bush speeches on foreign soil. He's our very WORST president ever. And I include the Clintoon in that list.

After his dis-service to the Nation, Bubba Clintoon was invited to speak to a gathering of officers and major shareholders of Morgan Stanley Dean Witter, with a serious remuneration of course. (circa 1992)

During the following week, MSDW lost 1/3 of its market capitalization as people with brains ran from the scum ridden ship.

Yes an activism by Brandeis Alumni , that Freepers understand. It works!

My disseration advisor got a doctorate from Brandeis.

And undergraduate degree from Oberlin (during the era when some
members of the Students For A Democratic Society were just getting
revved up on the Oberlin campus).

As much as I respect this person, I suspect that boycotting
Brandeis fundraisers isn't on the agenda.

But by exposure to this person, I understand what a revolutionary
(and socially, a very brave) act these folks are doing.

Sidebar: I'm still trying to figure out why Michelle Malkin got
her bachelors at Oberlin. Either she went there for
"opposition research" or she arrived liberal and got her eyes opened.
