LOS ANGELES, California (CNN) -- Former New York mayor and 2008 presidential contender Rudolph Giuliani said Wednesday he is not sure the tide will turn in the war in Iraq . . .
"I'm not confident it's all going to turn around," Giuliani told CNN's "Larry King Live." "Who knows that? I mean, you never know that in the middle of the war.
"I'm confident that we have to try to make a turnaround, and we just can't walk out, and that it is critical to us that things get to the point in Iraq that we have some degree of stability and not the way they are now," Giuliani continued. "Because if we leave it the way it is now and we run out, then we're going to face further difficulties in the future."
[snip]
King pointed out that Giuliani has said that if he won the presidency he would appoint judges who . . . might vote to overturn Roe v. Wade . . .
"I don't know that," Giuliani replied. "You don't know that."
"I am pro-choice, yes," he said. "But I'm also, as you know, always have been, against abortion . . .
"But I believe a woman has a right to choose, and you can't have criminal penalties. ... I think that would be wrong.
"I would select judges who try to interpret the Constitution rather than invent it," he said.
[snip]
"Gays should be protected. ... But the way I'm portrayed by my opponents -- and I guess to drive people away from me -- is that I'm in favor of gay marriage. I am not."
However, Giuliani said he does favor domestic-partnership laws for gay and lesbian couples.
And while he favors gun control, "I understand the Second Amendment," he said.

"..a real morale booster for the troops, mayor..."
You took the words out of my mouth.
Duncan Hunter is a Ronald Reagan conservative:

Rudy said, "And while he favors gun control, "I understand the Second Amendment".
While liberals (like Rudy) just UNDERSTAND the Second Amendment (what a cop-out response),,,,
Conservatives DEMAND that 'the right to bear arms' be enforced as intended when written.
My thoughts exactly. A real Winston Churchill we got here.
Hey Rudy, these are the guys that flew the planes into your buildings.
Compare that to this:
"We shall go on to the end, we shall fight in France, we shall fight on the seas and oceans, we shall fight with growing confidence and growing strength in the air, we shall defend our Island, whatever the cost may be, we shall fight on the beaches, we shall fight on the landing grounds, we shall fight in the fields and in the streets, we shall fight in the hills; we shall never surrender, and even if, which I do not for a moment believe, this Island or a large part of it were subjugated and starving, then our Empire beyond the seas, armed and guarded by the British Fleet, would carry on the struggle, until, in God's good time, the New World, with all its power and might, steps forth to the rescue and the liberation of the old."
Not confident we can can win?
NEXT!
"Giuliani 'not confident' war will turn around"
Fireone 'confident' Guliani won't be President.
....and the list gets bigger,
and bigger,
and bigger,
and bigger,
and bigger,
and bigger.......
On a bright note, my brother's future wife who served two terms in Iraq doing reconstruction hurled a pillow at the TV earlier. She said, "he's pathetic!" and changed the channel. Nothing I had told her about him (Rudy) was able to get her to rule out Rudy, but one interview did.
LOL!
Yeah. I like him. Too bad he won't be President.
"Duncan Hunter is a Ronald Reagan conservative:
Yeah. I like him. Too bad he won't be President."
It's up to us to vote for him in the primaries.
See you at the polls. :)
If it's Hunter, say "Yes Ma'am" to President Hillary.
Which... honestly... staggers me a bit. Just within the natural swing of things, after eight contentious years in the (R) column, the next President should predictably be a Democrat.
Unless they go for Hillary. In an ordinary season she'd be the easiest Democrat to beat in the HISTORY of Presidential elections. Unless, of course, Republicans do the predictable thing and submit somebody that's so easily hateable that even a democrat as unlikable as Hillary might still pull it out.
Never sell the GOP short on their ability to lose the easy battle. Lord knows, we could put up somebody "pure" and feel just wonderful while we watch Queen Hillary get her coronation. Golly that would be fun.
I just love that word... "pure." God forbid we ask that the Republican nominee be at least an ounce conservative. It's not a matter of purity, it's a matter of Rudy being so far to the left he doesn't even deserve an R after his name.
That's a bald faced lie. He's been for abortion since forever. And he even told George Will on national TV in 2000 that his support for partial birth abortion was "firm".
I can't believe the lies that he thinks he can get away with now. He must really think that the Republican primary voters are stupid.
"we could put up somebody "pure"'
Rudy is pure - pure LEFT!!
If you run a lefty against a lefty, you will end up with a lefty.
I hope voters remember 2006 on primary day.
"I'm not confident it's all going to turn around," Giuliani told CNN's "Larry King Live." "Who knows that? I mean, you never know that in the middle of the war.
But, but, but he's tough on the WOT. His apologists say so!
