I'm happy about this, as long as he doesn't later cave when they make a minor change just to show how bi-partisan he can be.
The GOP is poised to go on the offensive against unions. Look for articles coming out that show that union leadership is being paid more than what they spend on organizing (an angle designed to infuriate the union rank and file membership...people who we want to vote GOP), as well as point out that the top 20 paid union leaders are all white males.
Unions are completely vulnerable to Affirmative Action charges...arguments that can sway moderates in Blue States to become anti-union.
Of course, making these arguments will find a know-nothing group of perhaps 2% of red state conservatives carping that the GOP has somehow become "soft" or something...but if you want to sway union members and blue state moderates over to the conservative side, then you have to use arguments that blue staters value (e.g. affirmative action).
