I wonder if the explosion was cause by the same filthbags that a whaling ship rescued from Antarctic waters a week or so ago.

Greenpeace! That's what I'm thinking. Japan should declare war on them, sink their ships on sight. No plucking survivors out of the water either.

My first suspicion would be Greenpeace.

Talk about a dirty job, on a whaling ship is bad enough, but in ANTARTICA. Maybe the cold keeps the smell down.

The Nisshin Maru is, in fact, the ship that rescued them (and the one that they consequently launched acid onto one if its sailors)

Greenpeace?
I am by no means a fan of Greenpeace, but they've been the ones denouncing violence against the Japanese. More likely Sea Shepherd, the bastards who rammed the Keiko Maru and threw acid on a sailor of the Nisshin Maru about a week ago and threatened to give the Nisshin Maru a 'steel enema'
