The commies at International ANSWER are scrambling to cover their rears after Vietnam veterans and Freepers announced they were going to defend the Wall from desecration at the ANSWER rally in Washington, D.C. on March 17.
ANSWER made the mistake of poking a sleeping giant with a hot poker by announcing they were going to hold their so-called antiwar rally on sacred ground:
The March 17 demonstration will assemble at the Vietnam Veterans Memorial (Constitution Gardens) at 12 noon in Washington, D.C.and march to the Pentagon.
The response by veterans, military families and patriotic Americans has been ferocious. The Park Service has been deluged with phone calls complaining that the Wall was being abused by the left. The Park Service has made clear to everyone that the ANSWER rally will be held three hundred yards away from the Wall. There will be layers of snow fencing between Constitution Gardens and the Wall. Park Police will be out en masse and will not repeat the tolerance of the Capitol Police for desecration of out national monuments. (To be fair to the Capitol Police, their masters are 'Rats: Reid and Pelosi.)
ANSWER's boasting of holding a rally at the Wall has caused such a backlash that they have changed their announcement and have posted a disclaimer. Of course, they blame the D.C. Chapter (not by name, but we know, LOL!) for all the heat they're feeling. If they think it's hot now, just wait until March 17.
Here's ANSWER's, ahem, clarification titled Regarding the Vietnam Memorial:
Where we will Assemble on March 17
Tens of thousands of people will be gathering at Constitution Gardens at 12 noon near the Vietnam Memorial prior to the March on the Pentagon on Saturday, March 17. We will not be in the Vietnam Memorial and all speakers for amplified sound are turned away from the Memorial so as not to interfere with family members visiting the site. Constitution Gardens is the same location that ANSWER used for its mass anti-war rally on October 26, 2002. On March 17, 2007 we will leave Constitution Gardens and march on Constitution Ave. and then to Virginia on the way to the Pentagon.
The 58,000 U.S. soldiers who lost their lives in Vietnam and the millions of Vietnamese who were killed, died in a criminal war. The connection between Vietnam and Iraq could not be more clear. Iraq is also a criminal war of aggression. The central issue today, just as it was in 1967, is to bring the war to an end.
Thousands of veterans and military families, including those who have lost loved ones in Iraq, will be in the front ranks of the March on the Pentagon. Some tiny pro-Bush groups who support the war in Iraq, and who normally mobilize about 25 people to hold signs when massive antiwar protests take place, are now callously trying to manipulate Vietnam veterans by spreading rumors that the March on the Pentagon will defile the Vietnam Memorial. This lie should be treated with the same contempt that people have for the other lies promoted by Bush and his followers to justify an illegal war of aggression: Iraq had Weapons of Mass Destruction; Iraq was responsible for the September 11 attacks; and that the U.S. occupation would be greeted as an act of liberation by the Iraqi people. Enough lies. Enough deceit!
Well, well, well.
Just a Nobody's March 17 Resource thread is here.
Gathering of Eagles website is here.
They are also in close proximity to the protest and if the Wall is too well protect, those bent on vandalizing it may just go to the other two Memorials.
[Mr] T
I'll be heading down from north of Baltimore (or south of Philadelphia, depending on your perspective). Anybody needs help getting down, let me know.
We have some exceptional news to report - read on for details...
As you already know, Move America Forward is about to launch a major advertising campaign to rally support for our troops in Iraq. We've told you for several weeks now that we were working to put together a grassroots component to support this effort - and now we have a major announcement to make.
We have learned that anti-war protestors have been desecrating war memorials and now in some isolated instances publicly denouncing/insulting returning Iraqi war veterans. On Saturday, March 17th, Cindy Sheehan, Jane Fonda and Ramsey Clark will lead a giant anti-war protest in Washington, D.C. - disgracing the war memorials there as they march to the Pentagon. A massive anti-war crowd is expected - March 17th is after all the 4th anniversary of the commencement of Operation Iraqi Freedom.
Move America Forward [ http://www.MoveAmericaForward.org ] is proud to announce that we will be fighting back against all this negativity and disrespect towards our troops with a positive and patriotic national effort titled: "THESE COLORS DON'T RUN".
MAF will lead a national caravan of vehicles and supporters from California across the nation to Washington, D.C. Heading up the caravan will be Gold Star Parents who lost a child in the war on terrorism, Blue Star Parents who have a son/daughter serving in the war effort, or veterans of Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom.
We are putting out the word to all Americans to join us for this national show of support for our troops - and at each stop along the way conducting a patriotic pro-troop rally where we will be collecting American flags from rally participants.
We are putting out the call for children in schools to make homemade flags to be brought to these rallies. We are asking for those who are good at knitting or sewing to make homemade flags. We are asking families to bring a flag that has sentimental value or a patriotic story behind it to these rallies. Or simply buy a flag, bring it to the rally so we can add it to the collection of flags heading for the big Washington, D.C. event!
At each rally we will collect the flags and pack them in the trucks in our caravan and then bring them to Washington, D.C. where we will surround these war memorials in a giant sea of red, white and blue - and where we will conduct our final and largest pro-troop rally in Washington, D.C. - on March 17, 2006 - opposite the major anti war protest.
When the rally is completed we will send each flag donated to the effort to a unit serving in Iraq and Afghanistan with a placard explaining the story behind the national effort that brought this flag of support from the United States, overseas to our troops serving in the war on terrorism.
This will be one of the most ambitious efforts we have ever undertaken at Move America Forward. We will need your support for this positive, uplifting and patriotic event.
In the coming days we will be reaching out to coordinate our efforts and offer support to such fine organizations as Free Republic, Vets for Truth and the "Gathering of Eagles " project and participating veterans groups to make sure that there is a vibrant and patriotic effort from coast to coast.
We will be posting our planned route and stops at the Move America Forward website: http://www.MoveAmericaForward.org
Check your emails and the MAF website for more specifics on this national caravan and information on how you can join along in your own vehicle; we'll have additional information on our pro-troop rallies, and also helpful suggestions on how you can contribute a flag to this historic event.
Thank you as always for your support of the men and women of the U.S. Armed Forces and their families - they need our backing now more than ever!
Fondly,
Melanie Morgan
Chairman, Move America Forward
P.S. Forward this message on to others to help spread the word about this patriotic effort!
Texas Ranger saying.
I have to wonder how many of these anti=war marchers are the same ones that marched against the war in the sixties and seventies and spat on our returning veterams.
Only typo I see is the date, midway down in the paragraph about the "sea of red, white and blue." Hopefully that's corrected before the email is passed along (or maybe it was your computer that typed the year 2006 instead of 2007?).

Thanks for the post -- looks like we won the first battle and ANSWER is retreating from their boastful intentions and is being denied access to The Vietnam Memorial by Park Police. I hope we have a huge group to line the sidewalks surrounding The Wall so none can defile it.
We also need to bring out all of our MOABs from past confrontations with these traitorous people. Do we need to do any refurbishing?
See you on March 17 defending the Vietnam Memorial from the rabid anti-war marchers. FReep On!
I just copied and pasted...good catch. I hope it gets changed...she'll probably get some mail..
I hope we can make some sort of contact with the Park Police that day to let them know how much we appreciate their service and their efforts to protect the memorials from those sick cowards.
I wish I could be there, but I'm heading back to Seattle on Sunday.
Unfortunately, I won't be able to make this call. I made the last one though.
A couple of years ago when the Moving Wall came to Reno, Nevada myself and another man who was a Marine guarded it from 9pm until 8am.
Add me to that tiny list of Pro-Bush people that will be there. Can you send me the exact details when you get them??
Love your attitude.
If you never Freeped before it is time.
My wife just told me that it was Nov. 2002 and the time was from 10pm until 8am. LOL How time flies!
"If ANYTHING goes wrong at this demonstration, ANSWER will end up looking very bad."
I hope so, but I'm afraid that they would only end up looking worse to those who already knew why they didn't like ANSWER. Doubt the MSM covers it anyway (any desecration).
