The sad part is not that he's running, it's that he's a viable candidate who might win...

I always thought that was a very funny bit. The one about the draft is especially funny. "I used to be against the draft, but that was when I was young an naive. I now realize that communism poses a real threat to the Al Franken lifestlye."

Where's the picture of him as "baggage handler #1" in the movie "Trading Places" from 1983? His room level IQ in the movie is perfect.

There's a former Edwards campaign staffer that would make a *perfect* blogger for Franken. She'd fit right in with his views!

Oh, I like cheese on my popcorn...

Franken's announcement came on the final day of his radio show on Air America. The former "Saturday Night Live'' performer's celebrity instantly makes him a heavyweight contender and brings national attention to the Minnesota race.

Now "celebrity" (feh) has enough garvitas to outweigh stupidity? Or is Franken-weenie a "heavyweight" due to eating habits?

We need people who steal money from orphans and poor old folks in the US senate? Since when?

Wonder if there will be any stories of possible drug use coming up. Didn't the SNL cast binge pretty hard?

So, Stuart Smalley is running for the Senate?

Actually, I think he will be to Democrats what Katherine Harris was in 2006, the one candidate running against a vulnerable incumbent who can't win.

I think Franken will be utterly destroyed. He's emotionally unstable and totally undiciplined.

From the article: "The former "Saturday Night Live'' performer's celebrity instantly makes him a heavyweight contender...." Really? How so?

Minnesota elected a muslim. They might as well go for a moron.

Calling him a comedian implies that he is funny. A joke, yes. Funny, no.

In announcing his intent to run for the Senate, Al Franken has finally uttered a funny line. Finally, Franken has told a joke that is actually funny.

I read this and laughed so hard I nearly fell out of my chair.

"If they will elect Jesse Ventura as a Governor, they will elect this idiot too."

Poor analogy IMO. Jesse Ventura was an effective Mayor previously to running for Guv. He also was a good governor.
Totally shook up the entrenched Dem establishment here, and
gave the taxpayers a refund! I'm proud to say I voted for him.
Franken, on the other hand, is an agenda driven loser.
Somehow, they keep referring to this dolt as a comedian. He's
never done anything funny in his life, until announcing this
farce!

Sometimes I sprinkle a bit of the "parmesan" that comes in a green can (the charlatan of cheeses) on my popcorn.

Agreed. The Dims were chomping at the bit to run against Harris and bunch of useful idiots here insisted on running her anyway. Lets hope the DUmmies nominate Stuart Smalley. It would make Norm Coleman's re-election prospects much brighter.

At the outset, I'll bet Franken wins. If not, Coleman will win by the skin of his teeth and he better start by kissing the @ss of every conservative he can find - NOW. Minnesota RATs are insane and they don't care who gets their endorsement as long as they're anti-American. For Americans doubting this pronouncement...I can only say that you ain't been to Disneyland lately.
