FBI Losing Laptops, Weapons(Fumbling, Bumbling, Idiots!)

WASHINGTON -- Three or four FBI laptop computers are lost or stolen each month and the agency is unable to say in many instances whether information on the machines is sensitive or classified, the Justice Department's inspector general said Monday.

The IG said the FBI is reducing the number of thefts and disappearances of weapons and laptop computers, but the bureau acknowledged in a statement that "more needs to be done."

The Boston field office reported a stolen laptop containing software for creating identification badges. The laboratory division at Quantico, Va., said that a stolen laptop contained names, addresses and phone numbers of FBI personnel. The New Orleans field office reported a stolen laptop that had been used to process surveillance-related electronic digital imaging.

"Perhaps most troubling, the FBI could not determine in many cases whether the lost or stolen laptop computers contained sensitive or classified information," said the Justice Department IG's stated. "Such information may include case information, personal identifying information or classified information on FBI operations."

Of the 160 laptops lost or stolen over a 44-month period, 10 contained sensitive or classified information. The bureau did not have records on whether 51 others contained such data.

In a report five years ago, the inspector general said 354 weapons and 317 laptop computers were lost or stolen during a 28-month review.

The new report found that 160 weapons were lost or stolen during the 44-month period studied.

"Making progress' may seem like a win for the FBI, but it's unacceptable when you're talking about lost weapons and computers with sensitive information," said Sen. Chuck Grassley, R-Iowa.

Great. So the Justice Department is not only corrupt to the core, it's also incompetent.

Not that long ago we had an incident here where someone broke into a SWAT SUV parked at a restaurant. The perps smashed the window and made off with a couple full auto MP5s and some other equipment. I can't remember for sure, but I think a laptop might also have been taken.

The FBI has over 30,000 employees including over 12,000 agents. The agents by the nature of their job often travel high crime areas.

Cars are going to get stolen. Hotel rooms will get broken into. The FBI will have weapons and laptops stolen.

Employees will also have their homes broken into and have things stolen from there as well.

The number of laptops and weapons that have been lost or stolen does seem a bit high, but considering that our small company has had a couple laptops stolen from employees while I've worked here, I think that on a per employee basis they are currently doing better than we have done, and I'm willing to be a higher percentage of their employees travel on a regular basis.

The DOJ is enabling the invasion of this nation by paying for illegal alien drug dealers to testify against and convict Border Patrol agents who protect our sovereign borders.

The FBI is enabling the Muslim terrorists by providing ID badges, names and addresses etc.

FBI priorities :

1. Protect the United States from terrorist attack
2. Protect the United States against foreign intelligence operations and espionage
3. Protect the United States against cyber-based attacks and high-technology crimes
4. Combat public corruption at all levels
5. Protect civil rights
6. Combat transnational/national criminal organizations and enterprises
Isn't time that Alberto Gonzales stands down from Attorney-General for incompetence ?
