Reshaping America
The Washington Times ^ | February 14, 2007 | Paul Belien

Posted on 02/14/2007 8:50:05 AM PST by Gritty

Those who think that Europe is America's past, think again. Europe matters to America. It matters more than ever before. Nancy Pelosi, Hillary Clinton, Ted Kennedy and the liberal special-interest groups that currently dominate Congress want to reshape America in Europe's image: socialist, secularist and multicultural.

Americans who want to know what their country will be like 20 years from now if it follows the path its politicians want it to take, need only look at Europe... the collapse of a civilization.

First there was the rise of the welfare state,...

(snip)

Second, there was secularism...

(snip)

Third,... welfare immigration...

(snip)

People who have lost faith in God do not fight. They run. Since they do not believe in life after death, this life is the only thing they have to lose. One emigrant Dutchman, a homosexual author who lives in Brussels, writes: "I am not a warrior. I do not fight for freedom. I am only good at enjoying it." This mentality has affected the whole of Western Europe...

(snip)

Europe has chosen the path of submission... In that sense, they have already become Muslims.

At the root of the collapse of Western Europe's civilization is the self-inflicted disease of welfarism...

(snip)

Today, the Europeans are creating a supranational welfare system, the European Union (EU)... sacrificing their centuries-old nation-states. Some Americans think that the EU is a kind of United States of Europe. They are wrong...

(snip)

Europe's contemporary culture is one of "repudiation," a culture based on negatives for every aspect of the traditional European heritage (Christianity, monogamous marriage, national loyalty, monocultural identity and so on). This is the culture that Mrs. Pelosi wants to introduce in America...

(snip)

If America follows Mrs. Pelosi's lead, this is what it will get. Welcome to the future, look at Europe.

That's a grim way to greet the morning. True, though.

If you want to see what this brings you go to a hospital in Europe and look at their fantasitic national/socialist healthcare. Sarcasm

Bull. I fight like hell when the mood takes me.

Move to Europe and fight there. You'll be alone. Our cultural forebears have conceded.

"People who have lost faith in God do not fight." Bull. I fight like hell when the mood takes me.

We need to depend on people who fight out of a sense of duty, not just when they're in the mood. For most people, this is associated with protecting home, family and children, or our nation for the sake of future children. People who don't have children (most of Western Europe these days) and don't believe they are participating in God's plan for families indeed won't fight for anyone else's future.

I agree--America is slowly, but surely, becoming Europe. Why? Many reasons, but we have lost our frontier and, slowly, our frontier spirit. Strip that away, and all you have is Capitalism which degenerates for many into Materialism. And that is hollow indeed.

I don't have kids, but I have a family. I have a block; neighbors, friends, girlfriends. And then there's that museum on the other side of the park where they've collected some of the great treasures of the world.

I don't need God as a motivation to fight. There are other things worth fighting for.

Good for a tagline.
