He was against one of the bills Clinton vetoed - that had that exemption.
That is neither here nor there. The real issue is signing a bill the Courts will uphold and he supports the one the President signed.
Sorry, but a candidate's past performance is the best gauge of what he will do in the future.
This early in the game, I think it is unwise to trash any possible candidate.
Duncan Hunter is a fine man, and a fine member of Congress. How well he would do in the Primaries remains to be seen.
David Dreier is a fine Congressman, and a loyal Republican.
Seeing all the trash threads on FR, I am more and more convinced of Ronald Reagan's 11th commandment: Never speak ill of another Republican.
Only when examined throughly. It is not uncommon to find totally conservative Congressmen voting against bills which on their faces appear to be in line with conservativism. However, there are details which make them not so.
The point is Rudy would have signed the bill Bush did. Rudy could also explain his objections to any others which he had nothing to do with in any case.
Rudy time and time again has made pro-choice statements. He has gotten awards from the likes of NARAL. He was against the PBA bills vetoed by Clinton.
I'm not buying.
Rudy's views, like them or not, are very close to those of the majority of Americans.
Nice spin away from the issue. A strong majority of Americans favor a ban on PBA. Rudy opposed a ban until he decided to run for higher office. I find such ephiphanies less-than-convincing.
Later.
Most are opposed to the gratuitous use of the procedure no doubt but most would also agree that there need be an exception in case of threat to the mother. And don't bother telling me there is no threat. That has been pounded into the heads of the masses so that it is believed. These issues are far more complex than you are willing to let on.
And, once again, Rudy opposed the bans vetoed by Clinton that included such a exception. So you make no sense at all here.
I would prefer to see what he said at the time.
Don't get me started on her father, Guy "Paul Castellano is a good man" Molinari.
