Take note, presidential prognosticators: Former New York City Mayor Rudolph Giuliani (R) may have earned a rousing reception at the California GOP convention last weekend, but Rep. Duncan Hunter (R-Calif.) has more public supporters in Congress.

The first paragraph is a tad misleading, I think. The count has Romney in front (26) among GOP contenders, with McCain a few behind (21). Hunter and Giuliani are way back, with 7 and 5, respectively.

I wouldn't consider this a huge indicator of where the election is headed, from any standpoint, but it's an interesting tidbit.

Its amazing that the whole Arizona delegation is endorsing McLame, eventhough they are all solid conservatives. I guees the favorite son mentality carries a lot of weight.

I can't believe all this campaign activity 13 months before even the primaries. They may as well start running for the 2012 presidential election while they're at it.

Acceptable: Hunter, Tancredo, Paul, Brownback, McCain, Romney and Gilmore.

Unacceptable: Giuliani and Hagel.

The favorite son thing is likely the reason Romney ran here to Michigan to announce.

It only means McCain has tied up the party apparatus, not the GOP base or AZ voters. AZ has problems with the Republican party, in their continued support of McCain. The base does not, for the most part. I would be surprised if McCain could win an AZ primary were there a viable alternative.

Franks did indeed endorse Hunter, but Renzi, Shadegg, Flak, and Kyle endorsed McLame. They are rock solid conservatives. What the hell are they thinking?

When McCain gets elected President, he will back only those who backed him. So you can say good bye to a Senator Franks anytime soon.
