What's become of us?

We've got to stop this, we're getting worse than a bunch of 12 year olds fighting on the playground!

I'm not a big fan of Rudy. At all. But we've got to stop this damn bickering and insulting one another!

On one side you have the "Rudy is Evil" whackjobs that hate anyone who'd even think of voting for him.

On the other side, the Rudy boot-lickers who think he's the Second Coming of Jesus Christ.

And they go at each others' throats like kids. Or the Hatfields and McCoys.

Both groups are causing the demise of the GOP and the conservative movement.

STOP IT!!! WE'RE BETTER THAN THAT!

I blame the bickering and the near break-up of the Republican party on the side that supports Rudy over a true Conservative. The Republican Party is the party of,

  1. Pro-Family(anti-Abortion)
  2. Pro-Gun ownership(pro-2nd amendment)
  3. Pro-Military
  4. Pro-Traditional-marriage(see item 1)
  5. Anti-Gay-Marriage(see item 1)
Just to name a few.

So when a few so called Republicans, choose to back a Liberal like Rudy you have to wonder if they intentionally want to see the Republican party break-up(Libs in disguise), or if they truly believe The Republican party is the party of Liberals.

Why else would these same Rudy supporters not invest their time and energy in getting a true Conservative like Hunter elected? It makes zero sense. Rudy is 90 percent Liberal and maybe 10 percent Conservative.

We always hear this crap about how we need to stop being the single issue voters, hell it's a lot more then a single Issue versus Rudy, It's the whole friggin ball of wax.

No it's diluting DOWN what is RIGHT that is destroying the GOP. There is need for debate and perhaps some name calling if that can wake someone up!

I won't vote for a "baby killer" or a homosexual advocate. Rudy supports BOTH. He's no conservative. He's a social liberal. It's these kinds of people that are hypocrites, cause they wouldn't indulge in either but it's OKAY for YOU that turn my stomach - gutless, spineless and NO principles to stand on. Should we bother to delve into his personal life? Screwing around on his wife? Why, Gulliai is beginning to sound like old Bill ... without the tax increases.

You can vote for him. He's not good enough for MY vote. I have higher standards and answer to a Higher Authority.

You know. Maybe it's just me.

But if you really believe that we're "better than that" you might have started by not calling us whackjobs and boot-lickers.

I'm just sayin' is all.

The conservative movement is already on its last legs. The GOP can either be ideologues or pragmatists. I chose pragmatism.

Law and order are to me the most important things in society. I don't care if that makes me liberal or conservative. I want the party that can best accomplish these goals. Now, at this moment, that is the Republicans. Especially so under Rudy. I doubt it will always be the case, especially if things continue to unravel for the GOP.

But when you have fundamental moral differences in the balance, you can only expect there to be direct discussion about those issues.

For me abortion and gay rights (among two or three other foundational issues of the day) go to the heart of the moral principles that define our liberty and vouchsafe it for future generations. As such, for me there is no way I could support any candidate, whatever his or her name, and whatever they may otherwise want to paint themselves as, who has those issues wrong from my perspective. And I will lobby and influence to that effect because they are such fundamental and core issues.

On those issues, if the former Mayor's stance is as his quotes from the past indicate (and it will be up to me, by studying those issues and his stance to determine this for myself), under no conditions could I cast a vote for him...or anyone else who has those issues wrong. I have a fundamental responsibility to (at least for me) a higher Judge and board of review in front of Whom I must one day stand and make account of how I used this sacred right and trust we call our liberty. I dare not discharge that trust in any effort in opposition to principles that I consider sacrosanct before my Maker.

But that's just me and my own opinion.

Thank Heaven for grown-ups on this site!

I am voting for whoever will be facing Hillary, period. And if Ted Olson believes Rudy is the man to guide this country the next 4 years, to keep us safe, then Rudy is the man. Ted lost his most precious possession, and I trust his judgment.

On the other hand, we have made a contribution to Mitt Romney's exploratory committee. That was before we saw Rudy on Hannity & Colmes ( a rare viewing). Let's try to keep our minds open, folks, and work together to elect a REPUBLICAN President, because the alternative is extremely frightening.

And let's try to keep the name calling with 3rd graders who don't know any better.

It's too late. We're looking at a possible catastrophic split of the GOP.

STOP IT!!! WE'RE BETTER THAN THAT!

Wish it were true. Look at the posts of some of the people here. They haven't got a clue what intelligent debate or discussion is. Anyone that disagrees with their dogma is immediately branded something derogatory and sprayed with ignorant vile. I get sick of these turds. For the record, I respect Olsen and Giuliani. They are both better men than many here. I won't vote for rudy because I disagree with too many of his views and I'm disappointed that olsen is supporting him.

"On the other side, the Rudy boot-lickers who think he's the Second Coming of Jesus Christ." Where are these? Most folks just refuse to join the Hate Rudy Brigade. Almost all indicate that he is not in agreement with all their beliefs but understand that politics requires compromise at times.

Almost EVERY supporter of Guiliani has said they would support whoever wins the nomination. This is in sharp contrast to those Rudy Haters who adamently refuse to support the Party's nominee if it isn't someone no one has ever heard of or who has NO chance of winning the election.
