Ted Olson Supporting Giuliani
American Spectator ^ | 2/13/07

Posted on 02/13/2007 12:34:44 PM PST by zarf

Theodore Olson, the stalwart conservative lawyer and former solicitor general for the Bush administration, told the Spectator he will be supporting Rudy Giuliani's presidential bid.

"I admire his character, his capacity for leadership, his instincts, and his principles," Olson said over the phone this afternoon. He said he will help Giuliani raise money as well as offer advice on legal issues and domestic policy matters that involve constitutional questions.

Thank Heaven for grown-ups on this site!

I am voting for whoever will be facing Hillary, period. And if Ted Olson believes Rudy is the man to guide this country the next 4 years, to keep us safe, then Rudy is the man. Ted lost his most precious possession, and I trust his judgment.

On the other hand, we have made a contribution to Mitt Romney's exploratory committee. That was before we saw Rudy on Hannity & Colmes ( a rare viewing). Let's try to keep our minds open, folks, and work together to elect a REPUBLICAN President, because the alternative is extremely frightening.

And let's try to keep the name calling with 3rd graders who don't know any better.

Ted lost lot in the war on terror -- his beloved Barbara.

I can understand how he can support Rudy because of the way he's handled the situation in New York and how he has prosecuted crime in Gotham.

I don't care for Rudy's stance on abortion; but if he appoints judges that don't view the Constitution as a 'living document' he gets my vote over the hildebeast.

ugh...in fact, if the RNC janitor runs for president he'll get my vote over the Hellery....

"McCain is conservative on more issues"

McCain is not a man to be trusted, in my opinion, regardless of how conservative he is. He is a loose cannon.

Actually, I do not recall either book she wrote talking much about gays or abortion. The last one directly did discuss OBL, though.

SO what does that make you think of Ted?

Is he evil? A sinner? Is he going to hell or will he be sharing a room with Ted Faggard?

*************

It makes me think he's misguided.

All this Rudy adulation is not merely a rejection of McCain -- it is a longing for leadership on the most important issue of our time: the war on terror and national defense. Rudy's leadership abilities have been proven and demonstrated in NYC: on crime; on shrinking the bureaucracy; on shrinking the welfare rolls; on cutting tax rates and reducing/elminating the massive NYC deficit; on making government more efficient; on going after terrorists (reference the Arafat encounter). Name a better proven leader in the running. You can't.

Bravo.

I do know when the real votes get counted. And you didn't give any reasons for your conclusion about Rudy disappearing, most likely because it's wishful thinking on your part.

The base isn't up for another 4 or 8 years of "new tone" "moderate" crap. If Rudy was the only guy running who didn't mind putting bullets into jihadis, we might have something to talk about. Rudy has really only done one thing that the whole country supports, which is disaster recovery after 9/11. This qualifies him for SecDef or Secratary of State, IMO, but his record on the Second Ammendment makes him uniquely unqualified, as a Republican, for any position even close to domestic law enforcement. The NRA (I'm a Life Member) and the Christian Right (me, again) will not support him, thus he will not get the nod. The NRA is too powerful and those of us who vote our consciences cannot support such a liberal man for President. W is too far to the left for my blood, and I think a lot of people share that belief.

We conservatives are tired of being taken for granted and we won't be anymore.

It's too late. We're looking at a possible catastrophic split of the GOP.
