American Spectator ^ | 2/13/07

Theodore Olson, the stalwart conservative lawyer and former solicitor general for the Bush administration, told the Spectator he will be supporting Rudy Giuliani's presidential bid.

"I admire his character, his capacity for leadership, his instincts, and his principles," Olson said over the phone this afternoon. He said he will help Giuliani raise money as well as offer advice on legal issues and domestic policy matters that involve constitutional questions.

In NYC, there is a board that recommends to the Mayor on judges and the nominees are ranked on merit. In NYC, it would be almost impossible after so many years to have any conservatiave judge near the top of any merit system. NYC is not even close to how the President picks judges.

He benefits because there is nobody who is demonstrably to his right on social issues who has a prayer of winning the nomination.

Seems to me it is a bit too early to be making that claim.

WOW! Thanks for the info. I think Rudy will make it. Considering what happened on 9/11 he showed real leadership anyway regardless of whether they had a plan or not. You can't plan for that stuff no matter what - he could have been a Ray Nagin and blamed it on the government but he knew where the real blame was - with the terrorists. He saw nothing in looking back - he had to go forward and take care of of the business of looking for the dead and going to funerals and saving our city. He lost so many of his friends - I know if I were him I wouldn't have been so strong. He finally broke down at one funeral I remember. It took to much out of him. Whether he had a plan or not was not important - he held us together and was a leader with compassion. That's what we needed.

We absolutely know this about BKO - she made it very clear that Hillary was bad news and would want her denied power. We have no evidence to suggest that she thought that Giuliani was as bad or worse than Hillary.

Regards, Ivan

But we don't need to go at each other like children.

I agree.

Buck, for some here the criminalizing of abortion trumps everything else...don't even try to debate it. Ironically, if the Muzzies take over, the anti-abortion crowd will have their wish.

Not to mention that Barbara Olson represented my Senator on the Base Realignment and Closure Commission and she was much more into national security then most people realize.

But I am pretty certain all this Rudy adulation is a vote of no confidence in McCain - who is conservative on more issues!

Could be, except that the lack of confidence on McCain has more to do with CFR, Gang of 14, McCain's addiction to the media spotlight, etc. IMO.

Okay so I am Pro family, having a great love for my family and anti abortion, but the Supreme Court ruled that the woman has the right to chooose, so that's the law of the land.

Pro Gun - yes am that
Pro Military - yes definitely
Pro Traditional Marriage. Yes, men and women should marry. But I do not have a problem non traditional households. I would rather a child have two parents who love and adore him or her rather than a family that does not care about the kid, neglects and/or beats the kid. I have seen two households headed by women and the kids were great.

I am not anti gay marriage.

While I would not want to see the whole party break up, I do think there is room for thought and debate on all your issues (even though 4 and 5 are really the same) and I think freepers should be able to debate them openly. Maybe there is no such thing as a totally REPUBLICAN person or a totally DEMOCRAT person. I have democrat friends of mine complainig about illegal aliens and personal responsibility. And admiring Chuck Hagel!

Check the calendar, dude. Rudy will be a memory shortly after New Hampshire.

I do know when the real votes get counted. And you didn't give any reasons for your conclusion about Rudy disappearing, most likely because it's wishful thinking on your part.

BKO despised Hillary and her husband and her books attest to that.

I am not suprised by Ted's endorsement and in fact, I applaud him.

Hillary must be defeated.

BKO called Ted collect from the back of the plane and said "What should I tell the Captain?" He was only one symbol of strength after Sep 11.

If only I could have been a fly on the wall when a few of the more rabidly anti-Rudy types first read this. Talk about your bitter pills.
