While the White House is taking a hands-off approach to the 2008 GOP presidential primaries so far, former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani is quietly seeing an administration cheerleading section grow.
One insider said that it is built on the fact that Giuliani continues to beat Sen. John McCain in the polls and also because he is offering to stick with several Bush programs, including an aggressive stance against terrorists, and promises to name conservative judges to the court. One Bush official today noted Giuliani's pledge to nominate conservative judges and applauded the New Yorker for making that claim in liberal California.
"He didn't back away just because he was in California. In fact, he went there to make that statement. That's a very important signal," said the insider. Interestingly, even White House conservatives are showing support for Giuliani.
"He's the front-runner, and he's doing everything so far very good," said another official. "He isn't bending to what people want to hear. He kind of sounds like Bush did in 2000."

Could you briefly sum up the legalities of this? I have a feeling you're wrong.
The moderators DID judge:

The claim has been debunked.

Are you saying we cannot judge you for helping to promulgate the lie against Hunter. And then refusing to retract your claims?
Yeah, Rudy was so cognizant of such that he pushed a corrupt crony for the most important anti-terror job in the country.
FEC will be more than interested as well if this site has come out against Rudy or if they have come out for a candidate as a site. Mighty fine line being walked right now and some of these Freepers could be getting others in trouble.
This is listed as a discussion site. Unlike the DemocRATs, Republicans have to follow the letter of the law on CFR.
Thank you for posting the FACTS!
You didn't go back to read what I had to say -- said I would post no more on the Hunter threads because I didn't want to get banned. You can have Hunter all you want and the only thing you will ever hear from me on him is silence.
And now you are making implied threats against FR????
Do me a favor and forget you know my screen name and I will do the same after reading what you had to say about our nominee in 2000! I am still a Bush supporter and after reading the link Mr. Mojo posted from August 2000, it all came back. Have no desire to discuss anything with you again.
Or have the rules changed so we have to answer every ping?
There is a very easy way to not get banned - DON'T DELIBERATELY SPREAD LIES ABOUT OTHER CANDIDATES. And if you make a mistake, retract it instead of just slinking off.
>>>>>And I am another.
Yeah right! You and that other Staten Island sellout, Vito Fossella.
Lets throw conservatism overboard, political expediency comes FIRST! Rudy is da'man.... BLAH BLAH BLAH BLAH BLAH
What a joke.
I will post to you if I see you making unsubstantiated attacks on other candidates. Other than that, I will be more than glad to have nothing to do with the likes of you.
And now we have Rudy boosters making threats against FR. They had NO PROBLEM when the rules here worked for them. But now they want to report FR to the feds if they don't get their way?
I would think you would be interested in retracting false allegations you were making when those were proven wrong. I guessed wrong, apparently.
DONTCHA KNOW! These Rudy-Rooters are right ALL the time, while conservatives who oppose his candidacy are wrong ALL the time. ONLY Rudy can save America, the Republican Party and conservatism. ~sarc off~
That's a lie and you know it! Why are you trying to cause trouble? It is a fact what Howlin put up and so is the FEC. A site like this cannot take sides and yet Freepers like you and others are speaking for Jim on this question and saying the Free Republic website has chosen a side.
Why you don't grow up? We are trying to protect FR by pointing out it cannot take sides as a site in an election but some of you are saying that the site has come out against Rudy. Individual posters have come out against Rudy but I have not seen where Free Republic as a site has said we cannot post articles or support Rudy.
We are not threatening anything. I would never threaten if I didn't get my way or something didn't happen to suit me. That has never been the case and never will be unlike some of you. I don't threaten and I don't hit abuse unless it is some obnoxious that has nothing to do with debate.
Howlin stated a fact and so did I! You are the ones telling us to leave because we don't fit your perfect little world. Pres Bush didn't fit it either.
Oh, horsefeathers. FR has tossed Dem supporters and said "no liberals" for years. FR does not allow Dem candidates to be promoted here. You NEVER had any problem with THAT. But let Rudy be criticized and all of a sudden you're ready to call the FEC.
Rudy opponents were not the ones actively promoting a false allegation against a conservative candidate. And last I checked, the truth ain't hate speech.
"that and Giuliani's own father, was a Brooklyn bar owner and Mafia bagman and enforcer."
That's a pretty disgusting smear, and about as anti-American a comment I've ever seen on this website.
Whether or not it was true is certainly NOT the issue, but the idea that any person should be judged and condemned by the actions of his father sickens me beyond words.
If you are indeed IN my party, Vaquero, there's the door - use it and don't let it hit you in the ass on the way out. But truthfully, you don't sound like a Republican to me....
For years the Bushies made unsuccessful attempts to turn FR into a GOP website, that allowed no criticism of Pres Bush. Now it seems like the Rudy-Rooters want to turn FR into a Giuliani for President website. For years, FReepers have fought against liberalism and liberal candidates. Now we are being told, to either accept Rudy the liberal as the GOP nominee, or else.
These temper tandrums by some FReepers are most unbecoming.
