Bush Aides Like What They See In Guiliani
http://www.usnews.com/usnews/news/articles/070212/12giuliani.htm ^

While the White House is taking a hands-off approach to the 2008 GOP presidential primaries so far, former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani is quietly seeing an administration cheerleading section grow.

One insider said that it is built on the fact that Giuliani continues to beat Sen. John McCain in the polls and also because he is offering to stick with several Bush programs, including an aggressive stance against terrorists, and promises to name conservative judges to the court. One Bush official today noted Giuliani's pledge to nominate conservative judges and applauded the New Yorker for making that claim in liberal California.

"He didn't back away just because he was in California. In fact, he went there to make that statement. That's a very important signal," said the insider. Interestingly, even White House conservatives are showing support for Giuliani.

"He's the front-runner, and he's doing everything so far very good," said another official. "He isn't bending to what people want to hear. He kind of sounds like Bush did in 2000."

Do you realize that the same thing was said about W. during the 2000 election. W. was not conservative enough for some Freepers.

As much as I like him on the GWOT and tax cuts... this post actually undercuts your position...

So please stop acting like you know it all.

I don't either. Pro-abortion, pro-gun control, pro-gay "marriage," cross-dressing, divorced twice.... Not a good Republican candidate.

WE CAN DO BETTER THAN RUDI.

WTF? This is a discussion forum, or so I think. Most discussions have at least two sides.

I agree about the respect. I have been exceedingly polite, which is not really part of my nature. I have done this because I realize that there are those here with differing views. But some of the "real conservatives" are fairly vicious. I'm just saying....

Oh, there are no shortage of pubbie pols willing to sell out the base. That is quite obvious. But PhiKap mom's statement was about positions of voters - so nice try.

A 98% ACU Conservative like Rep. Sessions is supporting Rudy instead of Duncan Hunter -- a colleague in the House and more in line with him politically -- because that's where the voters are. Insider pols do not back no-chance candidates like Hunter. They back winners.

Just how far left do you think the party can lurch and still keep everyone on the bus? W. was barely able to. Rudy won't be able to.

W needs to do something to keep the folks still on the bus in their seats. You're right about Rudy.

[.. So a Republican President nominated twice by Republicans and elected twice is somehow not a real Republican? ..]

No.... the republican president is a democrat for all practical purposes..
You know... a BIG Government Republican...

"I'm a Unite'er not a Divide'er".. is his game and he unites with democrats every chance he gets..

He was elected because he ran agianst a MORON(2000) and a virtual traitor(2004) and was barely elected both times.. Nobody/few liked Bush but they detested the other guys..

He has single handly fractured the republican party..
Must have been his assignment from the git-go..
For the election of Congress in 2006 and for Hillary in 2008..

Look: there are clearly not enough "real conservatives" in the country to elect a "real conservative" for president. There has to be compromise or that wide-load, big mouthed shrew will be the next president. There they will be in January of '09, her and Old Crusty, with her hand on the NARAL constitution by-laws, taking the oath of office from a Supreme Court Justice who is carrying a barf bag. Bill will, of course, be in attendance; he will be soliciting sexual favors from those in the crowd.

Who gave him this assignment? Was it the Trilateral Commission, the Bilderbergers or Skull and Bones?

Which is why Reagan forged views that built a coalition of Republicans and Reagan Dems.

Hint: those views did not include a pro-choice and pro-gun-control agenda. Rudy's views will give Reagan Dems little reason to come over to the GOP.

LOL. The conspiracy theories they must engage in are hilarious.

And it will be interesting to see just how many good conservatives (like Rep. Sessions) they are willing to drag into the mud. If they're willing to allude something untoward about Rep. Sessions (98% lifetime conservative rating) because he endorses Rudy, I have to conclude they aren't conservatives at all.

I love it. Eleven months before the first primary and you've declared the race over. I guess you never heard the advice about not celebrating on the ten yard line. You guys are celebrating during pre-game warmups.

Coming from someone who has spent the last few weeks dragging the Reagan legacy into the mud, that's pretty hilarious.

I challenged the anti-Rudy freepers to demonstrate how he turned New York from a cesspool to a veritable paradise by pursuing liberal policies,

I was born on Long Island, then lived in New Jersey, and spent a lot of time in NYC. I remember what the city was like under Koch and Dinkins... horrible, dirty, crime ridden, and you got your happy ass out of there before dark.

BIG huge difference after Rudy took over. But if you didn't see the change you just don't know.

Look, I see a thread that I don't agree with, I don't read it, and I sure as hell don't post on it. These Rudy threads are becoming my family's thanksgiving dinner with me on one side and my hippy brother on the other flinging the mashed potatoes at each other.... yeesh.

Lighten up people, or we are gonna implode by the time the election really rolls around

Great post, PhiKapMom. Apparently some freepers don't understand the difference between spam and between posts like yours which are not boilerplate and are written to respond to specific comments.
