Here is a link for an application form for a BoA credit card. SS# required! That requirement must only apply to US citizens.

This is a bank whose logo is a riff on America's own Old Glory!
They need to hear from their customers.
Ethical practices these days are nothing short of scandalous.
It's about aiding and abetting criminals,KingKenrod. The
Bank of South America has huge signs in english and spanish
behind their counters in my county. The attorney general
should close them down or get a list of their clients
without SS#'s and prosecute them.Readers of Free Republic
should call their state's attorney general and complain
vociferously about this lousy,unamerican bank.
I moved into Kentucky a year ago. My credit is very good, so I had no problem with getting mortgage money in that respect. But, I had to sign numberous documents swearing that I was a citizen, here legally, SS number, blah blah blah. It was practically a DRE. I was told these were all FEDERAL REQUIREMENTS!.
Now, that being the case, lenders that do not do these things are violating federal regs, probably laws. Any new laws or promises regarding illegals are beyond worthless coming from a government AND executive (headed by the President, duh) branch that refuse to enforce laws already in existence.
Essentially, the feds and B of A are winking at each other and snickering.
In other words, the bank's actions rely on and will lead to political corruption.

About 2 years ago I caught a C-SPAN discussion on identity theft. Expert after expert came forward to plead with the Senate Finance Committee to crack down on the banking / credit industry to protect consumers private information. I noticed there was only about 4 or 5 senators on the panel listening to these guys. Later that day I turned back to C-SPAN to see how the discussion was developing. To my suprise, the panel was full and the Senators were kissing butt like crazy. Of course the consumer adovocates had been replaced by the banking / credit industry adovocates. The banking guys seemed to me enjoying the Senators bowing down before them. That is when I finally realized that our elected public servants could care less about identity theft and were not about to do anything to rein in the bankers handing out private information for pennies on the dollar. All in the name of profit.
Realize that 80% of Americans want identity theft, illegal immigration, and porous borders fixed. Somehow our elected officials laugh and say "let them eat cake". Our republic form or goverment has essentially become a corporate ran aristocracy. BoA knows this and mocks the rule of law, knowing that no politician will have the guts to shut them down.
Please explain.
Check says..."Pay to the ORDER of...."
One locak bank charges $8.00 to cash checks drawn on their bank...if you are not an account holder. That seems illegal too.
Oh, my! Gunslingr3, how dare you ask such a question!
I figure BoA wouldn't do it if they couldn't make money. We'll see. Does any law say they must ask for SS#s to people seeking accounts? Didn't think so.

We had our payroll account at BoA. Some of our short-term employees preferred to cash their checks for one reason or another. I was astounded when BoA suddenly stopped cashing these for non-account holders. I called them up and was told, in so many words, that they were not a check cashing service. I said, "Oh yes you are. That's what a bank is, among other things." I pointed out that a paycheck to one of my employees is an order, from me, to pay a certain sum, from my account, to the person presenting the order. It is not a loan or an optional service, it is a demand for payment. At least, that's how it has worked for the last 500 years or so. They said, ever so condescendingly, that they would gladly pay, just not in cash. I asked if they knew what "legal tender" meant. I was sure their policy couldn't be legal in Texas but I checked and it apparently is.
Our new bank is happy to cash payroll checks with proper ID and they don't charge a fee.
Now, that being the case, lenders that do not do these things are violating federal regs, probably laws. Any new laws or promises regarding illegals are beyond worthless coming from a government AND executive (headed by the President, duh) branch that refuse to enforce laws already in existence.

Actually - I think it depends on the type of loan and source. Those loans tied in with Government agencies (HUD/VA/FHA/etc.) do require lots of extra documentation. There are lenders out there that write loans to literally ANYONE that will come in and sign on the dotted line. YEs, they pay a HUGE interest rate - but the loans are out there.
But guess what - I think a lot of those lenders will get there's - when those illegals default and leave them sitting with a mortgage that is unpaid - and property not worth the outstanding balance).
I switched because of this issue when I learned of it a few weeks ago...
Bttt!
I am sure we are not alone, Please let Bank of America know that you are not going to foot the bill for billions of dollars in bad credit card debt because they want to give credit cards to ILLEGAL aliens.
Boycott the Bank of America!
I opened bank accounts with USAA today and I informed the manager at my local BofA branch that I was leaving them in protest over this.
She is a pretty nice gal and said what you would expect but interestingly she said I was the third customer this week to do the same.
I am sure they did the research and figured they would make money but not mine.
They think they will win in the wash, gaining low-income, high-fee generators.
Bankers do not see the Red-White-Blue; to them, the R/W/B is nothing but marketing. Bankers see just green, and they dont care where it comes from. (Photo of "The Bankers Heart", located at the former BofA World HQ)
It's their right to see things that way and it's my right to take my business somewhere else.
I don't use Paul Newman salad dressing anymore, watch any movie with Sean Penn (and a host of others) in it, and now I will change banks simply for principle. That is the true beauty of capitalism IMO.
I don't expect to be missed.
"You know that Illegal Alien" credit card program/deal we've got going? Well, it ain't what it is. Who are you going to believe; us or your lying eyes."
The letter was all: "We are performing a legal service and are not breaking any laws." Yadda, yadda, jive talk. Nowhere do they deny doing what they are doing: providing credit and credit cards to illegal aliens. Nowhere in the spot or in their statement does Bank of America say; "How could we have been so stupid, we hear the outrage of our legal American citizen customers and are going to stop this program immediately."... NO, none of that, just a basic: "Ignore that man pulling those levers behind the curtain, don't leave, we want your business/money" baloney.
Anyway, the FOX News people stated that BOA was losing a lot of customers and that a lot of people (like myself) had stopped using there credit cards, had cut them up/jumped ship and gone with other banks who do NOT give credit cards to ILLEGAL aliens.
The whole point of the news spot and Bank of America/MEXICO's statement was that the boycott is having an immediate effect. BOA/M is feeling it in their bottom line.
I am posting this to let everyone know that the boycott of this bank that supports illegals over law abiding American citizens is working. Keep up the good work!
