RALEIGH NC - - One of the chief campaign bloggers for Democratic presidential candidate John Edwards quit Monday after conservative critics raised questions about her history of provocative online messages. Amanda Marcotte posted on her personal blog, Pandagon, that the criticism "was creating a situation where I felt that every time I coughed, I was risking the Edwards campaign." Marcotte said she resigned from her position Monday, and that her resignation was accepted by the campaign.
Bill Donohue, president of the Catholic League for Religious and Civil Rights, demanded last week that Edwards fire Marcotte and a second blogger, Melissa McEwan, for remarks he deemed anti-Catholic. Edwards, a former North Carolina senator, called the messages personally offensive, but decided to keep Marcotte and McEwan on staff.
"No matter what you think about the campaign, I signed on to be a supporter and a tireless employee for them, and if I can't do the job I was hired to do because Bill Donohue doesn't have anything better to do with his time than harass me, then I won't do it," Marcotte wrote Monday night.
it'd probably bite you if you held a door open or got up to free a bus seat.
Too bad the little piñata quit. It was fun wacking her and Breck Boy for keeping her on.
Here we are again thinking the Immaculate Conception is something to do with the Holy Spirit overshadowing the BVM - which is the Incarnation. Ms Marcotte's vile description of the Holy Spirit being the catalyst for Mary's pregnancy is against all Christians and is intended to be insulting. But, Ms Marcotte seems to be continually ranting against Catholics in particular and using vile four-letter words in every sentence.
The Immaculate Conception is the dogma which states that the BVM was free from all sin, even original sin, by the grace of God from the time of her conception in the womb of her mother. The reason being that God prepared her as a vessel for the Holy Spirit, thus to be the Mother of Jesus Christ. For that reason Catholics also refer to her as the new Ark of the Covenant.
Edwards will never get the chance to do the right thing with Marcotte. I love it. Let history show dumping the bigot was not his idea.
"This one is "ugly to the bone..."
Dunno. In the eye of the beholder, I suspect.
My spies just reported that Janet Reno is in her way to set up a tryst. Hitlery's lady-love just took a bath, shaved her legs and armpits -- and has the ol' red pick-up truck headin' North.
JanBabe just might have met her match with this beyond-the-pale cretin! Or, perhaps a match made in Heaven! *S*
The "voluntary" golden parachute is the only way to go... through three or four layers of institutional cut-outs, natch.
Here's the frontal version. Not my cup of tea, maybe she's yours. But that mouth on her is an industrial strength deal-breaker.
This pic accompanies a obscenity-free post on the Earth Island Institute blog. Here are lowlights:
Now, if Edwards read stuff like this from Marcotte and not her profane BDS/anti-Christian/testosterone allergic screeds and wanted to hire her, it gives an idea about where he's coming from.
The blogger Shakespeares Sister wrote recently of a favorite tactic in commercials, setting up situations where manhood is proven by disdaining women by using the advertised product.Burger King: A guy and a girl sit at a table together. The guy throws down his fork and jumps up into a song-and-dance routine, braying about how hes not going to eat chick food anymore. He sings and dances his way to Burger King to get a ginormous burger, joined by other men who are all doing the same...
I used to resist the idea that there was something sexist about pro-meat and anti-vegetarian sentiments, but no more...in this commercial, women are so contemptible that anything associated with femininity, even something as mundane as eating vegetables, must be harshly and loudly rejected. And the object that men bond over in this case isnt a womans body, but a greasy hamburger...
...So what men watching this commercial are left with is not just the message that they have to oppose women to be Real Men, but also the implication that Real Men destroy the environment.
BTW, Here's the British version of the ad in question. Check out some of the comments. Marcotte and McEwan are not alone.
Is there a chapter and verse for this dogma?
Good one. My guess is her BF's have used her, and she's still bitter about it.
"Can't a few white boys sexually assault a black woman anymore without people getting all wound up about it."
BTTT.
Really?
Thanks. LOL
My, my. Nice vocabulary there. I saw something this morning that she lives in Austin TX.
As they say, "A picture is worth a thousand words." Can you read the top line?
you have FReep mail.
I think I warned them early enough that they could pull that comment from later time zones.
Iowahawk IS a genius!
Funny. The pic I posted, tiny as it was, she looked fine. The bitter beer faced pic after tells a different story.
