From Giuliani campaign 1993 documents:
Simplicity is the best response to questions about abortion. Giuliani's answer to abortion questions should always be succinct and to the point. Giuliani is pro-choice. He supports public funding for abortion. He will continue city funding for abortions at city hospitals. Nothing more, nothing less.
The Giuliani campaign should emphasize its candidate's independence from traditional national Republican policies. Especially useful in this strategy is Giuliani's role in overturning a Reagan administration attempt to throw disabled people off the Social Security rolls, his prosecution of Republican elected officials -- especially his authorization for call his boss, Attorney General Edwin Meese III, a sleaze, and his un-Republican views on many social issues of concern to New Yorkers, like abortion, gun control and bias protection for homosexuals.

Panic mode?....you are kidding right?...lol
Only a Rudy-apologist would 'define' discussing Rudy's strong liberal bias and pointing out his lack of conservative credentials as 'panic mode'!
I guess if I was a liberal apologist--I would consider ANY highlighting or ANY discussion of his liberal leanings as 'panic mode' too...lol

Joe baby, you are indulging in a lot of wishful thinking, and confusing that with analysis. It is amazing as to the sheer quantity of utter drivel that is out there these days.

"The electorate turned to the Democrats largely because of frustration over the war in Iraq. But the Dems, many of whom had supported the war at its onset, have no real ideas about how to improve the situation there. So they have been promoting their leftist social agenda. To counteract them, the GOP is now focusing on a candidate who (a) has a social agenda as leftist as any the Dems propose and (b) supports President Bush's increasingly unpopular position on Iraq. This is the electable candidate? I don't think so."
I wish I'd written this. Well said and spot on.

I was lucky enough to see ol'e Blue Eyes in the early 90s as well. I loved every minute of it, teleprompter and all. He was fantastic.

what happened is that the far social right was so stunned that their champions ...George Allen and Rick Santuram couldn't even hold their own states they don't have varsity player and the game has started. They are lashing out in frustration and rage.

I am so sick of all this crap. Democrats, Republicans, RINOs, blah blah. None of these assholes will do anything to make America stronger. They can only make us weaker. It is the people, the entrepreneurs, the inventors, the risk-takers, the skilled and service workers. Those are who make America great, not these stupid pieces of shit who pretend to be our "leaders". Government is the enemy.
To: Kirkwood
If Rudy can't win, then why are so many people in panic mode so early?
Why? Because a lot of the party bigs plus some of the major "conservative" talk show hosts like Yawn Vanity, Hewitt, and Medved appear to be in the tank for Rudy already. While I don't think this is enough to get a vile liberal extremist over the top, it may be enough to cripple the party badly going into the general election.
If nothing else, Rudy's candidacy is flushing a lot of skunks out of the underbrush.

"Makes me wonder what type of conservative would stay home and not vote."
Conservatives and just people in general who aren't sheep. Voting for someone who you disagree with on probably 80% of the issues is garbage. I refuse to be a part of a Giuliani-run White House. I already live with plenty of guilt. Why add to it with a vote for a leftist posing as a republican?
And spare me the Clinton line. I said I live in a safe state, so I ain't helping Clinton win.
I'll gladly vote republican if the nominee is not Giuliani or Hagel. I'll even vote for McCain.

It won't come to that. Rudy's not going to be the nominee.

"Panic mode?....you are kidding right?...lol"
You have to admit it Rudy is causing a lot of emotional distress in some of the FReepers. Some people must drink too much coffee. LOL! If they are this worked up now, I wonder how they can stand it until a year from now? Maybe in about 12 or 15 months I'll see who is running and take more of an interest.

"That's funny, I know a heck of alot of conservatives who think "staying home" is probably the dumbest thing anyone could do.
Maybe he actually wants President Shillary.
Now that's a real conservative plan isn't it?"
I think Hillary is counting on the Republicans being just that stupid and why not? It got her husband elected!
