I heard about this today while listening to talk radio during the "Rush hours". My ears perked up when Shelia Jackson Lee was mentioned as also involved.

Did anyone else hear this? I'm not sure whether it was while Hedgecock was talking, or during a news break.

All I know is that when I heard it, I was immediately conflicted as to how to react.

I sent her a "thank you". I could care less what party she is from as long as justice is being done.

Maybe she would write a letter for Deputy Gilmer Hernandez?

Diane hit all the salient points, and the SOB's had better comply!

As much as I hate to say it, her letter to Gonzales kicks a$$.

Whatever the truth of this case is, it needs to come out. After paying a little deeper attention to the "official" details, I believed that perhaps the BP agents weren't so innocent (although the sentences were still appalling). However, as the "official" version has started to crumble (with not a little help from my excellent Congressman, Michael McCaul), the "official" version is starting to stink.

She wouldn't be onboard with this unless she sees an opportunity to tar the administration.

The Administration handed her the brush. And the bucket full of hot tar.

the "official" version is starting to stink.

Staring to stink? The "Official" version would make a skunk vomit.

This whole miscarriage of justice was meant as an open threat to PB agents that they face the same should they get in the way of "certain" border crossers.

There's entirely too much money at stake to allow the BP to interfere.

I was totally surprised when I read the letters. You are right, she "kicked a$$" in her letter to Gonzales.

Fesinstein may not know about the Hernandez case. Most of these cases only make the back pages of any newspaper.

I am afraid there is a lot more to this story than even the senator knows. The roaches in the bureaucracy will be CYA, and lay low. hopefully, enough pressure will occur to weed them out.

Don't disturb them. They are too busy cutting federal reimbursement to county jails housing illegal alien prisoners.

And sending Guardsmen to defend our borders without bullets.

U.S. Attorney Johnny Sutton, appointed in October 2001 by President Bush, said (Deputy) Hernandez fired shots at the vehicle as it sped away "knowing it was occupied with the nine individuals," at least seven of whom were illegal aliens -- some of whom later were called to testify for the government.

The three facts you cite start to look like overt efforts to make sure that efforts to detain illegal aliens and defend the border are ineffective. That is beyond simple neglect, but actual active opposition to the desires of the majority of Americans.

LOL, no I hadn't. Thanks for the ping!

This is what happens when Republicans sit on their hands and go against their base. The Dems step in and look good doing it.

"Osvaldo Aldrete-Davila. Mr. Aldrete-Davila was a drug smuggler who had driven a van containing 743 pounds of marijuana across the Mexican border into Texas"

This really jumped out at me since we keep hearing he walked across the border and picked up the van on the US side.

A lot of us here have been watching this closely, any thoughts?

I agree. What was the old saying, "He who hesitates is lost" Feinstein maybe having self serving motives, but others are not stepping to the plate. I guess that is life.
