The heavy presence of security around Obama was also a silent reminder of the change that took place with the announcement. Michelle Obama, the candidate’s wife, acknowledged it in an interview to air on CBS’ “60 Minutes,” in which she was asked if she fears for her husband’s life as a black candidate.

“I don’t lose sleep over it because the realities are that . . . as a black man . . . Barack can get shot going to the gas station,” Michelle Obama said in the interview, set to air Sunday night. “You can’t make decisions based on fear and the possibility of what might happen.”

Well, I’m sure glad I’m white because that means I won’t be shot while “going to the gas station.” I forgot about that unwritten rule where only black men can be shot and no one else.

I would guess that most people still don't know who Obama is, and you cannot tell that he is half-white by looking at him.

Sorry, Mzzz Obama, ™wife of Barak. It wouldn't be because he is a senator, or from being the token Black Democrat™ candidate. It would be because he was strutting his stuff- wearing too much "bling"- and flashing around a wallet full of credit cards that would increase those odds.

His odds are no different than anyone else's, in fact if you were white in a black Chicago neighborhood, the odds would be even greater and Obama's less, because after all, he's worshiped in Chicago, isn't he? At least that's what lame stream media™ tells me.

Where's MY protection? Obama tells me I shouldn't even be allowed to protect myself, that only these criminals have the right to carry weapons, while law abiding citizens of any color are not. Where's MY protection? How come I do not deserve the same rights as Obama and have 24 hr police protection?

I saw this story over the weekend, and almost blogged about it. I admit I haven't watched the video, but I've read the transcript a couple of times.

I'm not so sure that she's saying he could get shot at a gas station because he's black.

The way I ~read~ it is that she's not going to spend time worrying about him getting shot at a black Presidential candidate, because he could ~just as easily~ get shot going to the gas station.

Just my $0.02.
