bill introduced to the US House of Representatives would require ISPs to record all users' surfing activity, IM conversations and email traffic indefinitely.
The bill, dubbed the Safety Act by sponsor Lamar Smith, a republican congressman from Texas, would impose fines and a prison term of one year on ISPs which failed to keep full records....

Oh, I wouldn't doubt that.
The whole gist. The purpose. It's none of the governments business.
I want them to "get out of my way"*.

Oh but being a little liberal is better than being totally liberal. /sarc
Yeah, stupid is still stupid.
Why are they needing to look at everyones. MYOB!!! In case they don't know what that means...Mind your own business. Government is getting more and more intrusive everyday.
I want them to "get out of my way"*.
And you really think that's going to happen?
So what part have you played to make this come about?
Stalin would have loved this. Yet our borders are wide open, and this administration has made it clear to the border guards to do nothing, or else!
I'd like to see a bill opening up the closed doors of congress. Maybe a bill to openly monitor everywhere congressmen go to eat/drink,, where they take their vacations and who with,, perhaps even a web page where any American could access how much money a senator and representative have in their checking and savings account and where the deposits come from. I am very serious. They love to watch our every move. Their cameras snap away the very instant the red light flashes to catch us in the very second we break the tiniest of laws,, they want to know our web surfing habits, our grocery lists, and so on,,, but for them?? Why, their offices are hallowed ground! They could hide evidence of a crime in plain sight, but we are not allowed to enter. Could not a congressman or a senator be as much, if not even more of a threat to this nation than the average citizen?? Maybe it's time we demand their habits be displayed across the internet, or on monitors one could watch from any sidewalk, ,, sounds good to me.
You're right. It's amazing what these evil people will try to get away with. The first time one of them even thinks about introducing a piece of legislation that is contrary to what the Constitution says, we need to get the rope out and hang them. Every time they get away with something, it just further encourages them to try to take more from us.
SAFETY Act....Stopping Adults Facilitating the Explotation of Today's Youth Act.

The article didn't really mention that this is to target Child pornography providers and users.

Who's gonna read ALL the stuff? haha
>>And you really think that's going to happen?<<
Not any more.
>>So what part have you played to make this come about?<<
Last time I did this, beyond voting, was when I was part of a march in Seattle that actually STOPPED Hillary's health care gauntlet in the nineties. I was one of the few that actually got in the area in front of her. I made a comment through a makeshift bullhorn and we made eye contact. We had a "moment". ;)
It is clearly too late now. I've seen the american people.
Who is John Galt?
The weak succumb. The strong survive.

It doesn't matter what the tax leeching ballot lice **say** the purpose is.
What matters is the practical effect, which in this case is to record for an indefinite period of time all surfing activity of everyone (too stupid to use an anonymizer).

With that I agree. But strength is not always physical. It is interesting to read about who did and did not survive the German death camps. It was not always who some would characterize as the "strong".
If it isn't Democrats screwing the public over it's Republicans. Our politicians are criminals.
"If I want to hide my presence and actions on the Internet, I can do so in such a manner that it would be next to impossible for someone to track my actions."
Yep, criminals can get around this no problem. It will be used to punish innocent people instead. Politicians are jumping for joy since now they will be able to go after anyone who disagrees with them, with ease. Can you say IRS audit?
