Watch the Mitt live as he announces his Presidency.
Corrected Title:
Watch the Mitt Romney - LIE!
Is he President already? I thought we had to go through an election first.
What has he become president of?
The club of people with evil twins.
Are there any Republicans surviving in MA post Romney?
"the mitt" - is that his cool handle now?
What's the over / under on the number of times he flip flops during the event?
"Watch the Mitt live as he announces his Presidency."
"The Mitt?" LOL. Works for "The Donald," I guess, but even he couldn't just decree his presidency.
"Mittster" didn't focus group well at all, I'm told.
I hate to burst people's bubble...but unless he announces he changed religion as well...he is beating a dead horse.
Because a large chunk on both sides of the political isle are not ready to vote in someone of his faith.
I'm sure that there are those of the disillusioned who want to say different...like those who say Hunter or Tancredo have a shot...but that is flawed philosophy to no end.
Reality sucks, yes...I know. But it is still reality.
Announcement date changed to Tuesday, per website.
Curious: The broadcast website is using the exact same broadcast software as Hillary's recent fireside chats.
Hmmmmm.....
"The mitten man"? No.
"Mittster"? No.
"The Mitt" THAT'S IT!
Is this an official campaign generated nickname? If so it's not thought through very well. Someone could make hay out of it in relation to his action on gay marriage. The joke almost writes itself.
Com"mitt"ment!
Sam Malone?
elections are so messy. Let's just appoint the one that gives people a warm fuzzy feeling instead of worrying about pesky things like positions and records.
As far as marketing genius, how about "My Man Mitt" sounding alarmingly like "Our Man Flint?" A trio of mad scientists try to take over the world with a weather control machine. Has Romney landed Karl Rove or something, lol?
Michigan was then, as it is now, a swing state that leans Democrat.
Romney, at least, has an impressive resume and has worked in the private sector. Something that cannot be said of at least 85% of those running for the nomination of either major party.
You may be very surprised how quickly this issue disappears from the political radar screen. One thing is certain, Mitt Romney is dealing with the issue head on, just as John F. Kennedy did in 1960 for the huge majority in the U.S. who believed a Catholic was unelectable. Stay tuned, the Romney campaign is very impressive. For the Internet aspect of the campaign (web sites and blogs), I've never before seen its equal; it's astoundingly good.

From an article at the Tallahassee Democrat, titled Romney seeks to defuse the 'Mormon issue'
"Apparently those of us who can recall Kennedy's speech are not the only ones who are thinking about it. Romney has been studying Kennedy's remarks and has scheduled a meeting with 100 ministers and religious broadcasters to be held this month in Florida. He is particularly concerned to reassure members of the party's conservative Christian base that his Mormon affiliation should not stand in the way of their support. He has met with the Rev. Jerry Falwell, the Rev. Franklin Graham (Billy Graham's son) and the Rev. Paula White, a popular TV preacher and co-pastor of a 22,000-member church in Tampa. The evangelical leaders reportedly are favorably impressed by their conversation with him."
Vigilanteman, you made some excellent points. I'll add that Mitt Romney was elected Governor in 2002 in a state where less than 0.5% of the electorate are members of his religion. Furthermore, although Romney was handily defeated when he ran for the Senate against Ted Kennedy in 1994, the winning margin for Kennedy was the smallest in all his 9 election wins to date (17%). Romney has proven to be a tough, smart campaigner in difficult races.
