Grammy digs Chicks! Trio sweeps top awards, takes album of year for Taking the Long Way

It's all incestuous. Awards for music industry people by music industry people. Doesn't change the fact that the Dixie Chicks won't get one red penny from me.

good point but i must ask where is our conservative support for the arts? as an artist myself those lefty arenas aren't an option, but there are no real alternatives on the right(there is the new film festival-thank you, thank you, thank you! But where else and where are the awards, grants and prizes?
If people want change they must effect it where it is most influential (and the arts do have wide appeal and influence).
Yes, you have said it more clearly in your post that anyone else, they are all very political. Sad and true. Bu there is also a point where an alternative or set of alternatives are offered and the conservative movement has done little to truly support new artists or set up associations to really nurture art. Sure it has to come from private funding UNLIKE the socialist/communist left . . . but where are they?

I am so glad that I didnt buy a single copy of music on CD in 2006 since the members of the Recording Academy have revealed the Grammys are merely awards to activists for Leftist causes and not based on musical merits. I will certainly extend my perfect record of last year by completely ignoring their music industry in 2007.

The liberal left vote on them. It was all about their disrespectful songs and attitude against President Bush. It really doesn't matter if they won Grammies, because the people who vote with their wallets are the ones who have hurt them. So, we still get the last laugh!!

Their entire Grammy haul is a protest against Bush and the War by voters of the Grammy awards. In this case it has little to do with their music.

I saw about 5 minutes of it. Was she the blond chick who threw down the mike stand?

Al Gore is just as ashamed of President Bush as the Ditsy Chicks are and look how good he has been doing lately.

The process begins with members and record companies submitting entries, which are then screened for eligibility and category placement. The Academy's voting members, all involved in the creative and technical processes of recording, then participate in (1) the nominating process that determines the five finalists in each category; and (2) the final voting process which determines the GRAMMY winners.

There are about 11,000 voting members. It has nothing to do with album sales or concert attendance. In other words, there is no general public input.

They can give the Shitsy Chix all the pseudo accolades they want the bottom line is that they had to cancel tour dates and find replacements Canada. In addition their movie bombed and their record sales blow. This is just a circling of the wagons moment. It is as insignificant as a "non binding resolution".

Didn't Miss Natalie say something stupid like seeing people are expressing their freedom of Speech or something last night in accepting?
It seems like not attending a concert by traitors is exercising "Freedom of Speech".

Yes, Carter won too. Look at the box at the bottom of the MSNBC linked story. Unbelievable, well not really but it should be unbelievable.

What a joke. I sing karaoke, so maybe if I bash Bush I'll get a Grammy too.

Of course, the entire music business is only marginally about the music. It's main focus is marketing. And that's how we end up with flashy artists who have less than stellar musical talents. The "Look", and the "Vibe" are more imortant than the music. Is it any wonder the industry is in a mess?
