WASHINGTON - Skeptical congressional Democrats said Sunday the Bush administration should move cautiously before accusing Iran of fomenting a campaign of violence against U.S. troops in Iraq.

The members of Congress spoke on the morning talk shows as the U.S. military said it believes orders came from the highest levels of the Iranian government to send components for sophisticated roadside bombs in Iraq.

The military told reporters in Baghdad that between June 2004 and last week, more than 170 Americans had been killed by the bombs, which the military calls "explosively formed projectiles." Those weapons are capable of destroying an Abrams tank.

Explosives seem to be flowing into Iraq from Iran, but does it stem from a deliberate government policy or rogue elements within the Iranian government? asked Sen. Jack Reed (news, bio, voting record), D-R.I., who serves on the Senate Armed Services Committee.

Sen. John Kerry, D-Mass., said that ultimately Iran wants a stable Iraq and that the United States needs to engage in diplomacy.

Sen. Christopher Dodd (news, bio, voting record), D-Conn., said the administration could be laying the groundwork for an attack on Iran and that "I'm worried about that. That's how we got into the mess in Iraq," by relying on what Dodd called "doctored information."

Senate Intelligence Committee member Ron Wyden (news, bio, voting record), D-Ore., said "the administration is engaged in a drumbeat with Iran that is much like the drumbeat that they did with Iraq. We're going to insist on accountability."

On the Republican side, Sen. Trent Lott (news, bio, voting record) of Mississippi said he does not think the United States is trying to make a case for attacking Iran. Lott said the U.S. should try to stop the flow of munitions through Iran to Iraq but that "you do that by interdiction ... you don't do it by invasion."

Sen. John Cornyn (news, bio, voting record), R-Texas, spoke in more aggressive tones, saying that "we have to do everything within our power to stop" any cross-border flow.

Reed spoke on "Fox News Sunday," Kerry on ABC's "This Week," and Dodd and Lott on CBS's "Face the Nation" and Cornyn and Wyden on CNN's "Late Edition."

So true. The danger, malice, and mass murder that Jimmy brought us today's Democrats want to preserve. Have we ever had a nations so upfront about its desire to destroy an American ally (Israel), kill American soldiers and civilians in Iraq, perpetuate mass murder and chaos in a nation we've invested huge sums of blood and treasure in (again Iraq), supporting proxy terrorists thugs who commit mass murder in Lebanon to choke off its emergence as a free and independent democracy, arming terrorists to shoot at missiles and mortars into Israel, and yet enjoying so much political support from the Democratic Party of the USA? Where is their sense of decency or desire to support democracy, civilization, or Israel? These Democrats today only want to pursue power at any cost without regard to the real threats in the world we face. They're blinded by advanced Bush Derangement Syndrome.

He's right. The Left has latched onto any idiot, no matter how vile or vicious, that's come along as long as he hates America and works against capitalism. However, there was a time when most Democrats were not so keen to be seen as allies with dictators, mad mullahs, and fascist who threaten Israel. Today's Democrats are the apologists for the mullahs, more concerned with carrying their water than with speaking back to Iranian bullies. Their all-consuming blind hatred for Bush has them in bed with the mullahs.

I wrote this about Obama..but frankly,
it applies to all these cowardly chimera
that present themselves as Democrats.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Oh PAHHHH-LEEEEEEEESE!
Obama invokes Lincoln, who stood up to
the winds of War, Misery, Misfortue and
uncertain destiny, with his beliefs, and
moved forward into the raging tespest, and
declares affinity with him, as Obama demands
retreat, uncertainty, to shirk from battle, and
from inevitable destiny, as a cowrad runs away,
dying a thousand deaths, rather than to stahnd
and face a bully, and accept what may come....
AZnd apparently, even *small* bullies, intimidate
those that now claim the mantle of the Democrats.
Obama retorts to Howard, like a boy retorts
to a friend admonishing him, not to back away
from the intimidation and shame but to stand
firm.....
"Well if you're so tough, why don't *you* fight him??"
Obama does not comport the steel in the
backbone it takes to be the Commander in
Chief.. .of even a *small* country.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

For sale on world market is my guess why they're marked as they are. Plus, they're only using common abbreviations and numbers. "HE" is known the world over as high explosive, and "mm" is known as millimeter.

Dems are also skeptical of fighting against terrorists (remember their endless bleating of 'if we try to thwart terrorists, they will come and hurt us...').

Its time to stop listening to Dems endless whining and move forward with that which needs to be done to protect American from its enemies.

Skeptical congressional Democrats said Sunday the Bush administration should move cautiously before accusing Iran of fomenting a campaign of violence against U.S. troops in Iraq.

It wasn't too long ago that the Dems were complaining of us not having enough troops in Iraq, and asking why we invaded Iraq instead of Iran - the more serious problem.

This image provided by the U.S. military on Sunday, Feb. 11, 2007 shows what officials call 'explosively formed penetrators,'or EFPs. U.S. military officials on Sunday accused the highest levels of the Iranian leadership of arming Shiite militants in Iraq with the sophisticated armor-piercing roadside bombs that have killed more than 170 American forces. Let's all recognize how closely the interests of our Demagogues and the Iranian Islamo-fascists are aligned:

(1) both want the US to suffer defeat and flee Iraq ignominiously;

(2) both hate George W. Bush far more than they care about hurting each other;

(3) both would rather see Iraq turn into a long-term morass of bloody in-fighting than see it become a stable, secure, INDEPENDENT country not aligned with Iran;

(4) both dream of a return to the political patterns of the mid-to-late 1970s, when the USA was wracked by indecisiveness and retreat, and the Iranian Mullahocracy first enjoyed its "revolution" of Islamo-fascism;

(5) both would far rather see many more young Americans dead than see the USA bring a degree of stability, order, and freedom to the Middle East;

(6) both are terrified that we might actually succeed and deal the terrorists a resounding defeat (for the Demagogues that would be a great political embarrassment, and they prefer bloody US defeat to any form of victory).

Do I exaggerate the treasonous depravity of our Demagogues?? Not at all!! They are aligned with America's worst enemies and openly work for our defeat. Yes, I include the illustrious James Webb in this indictment, and the facts of his background and the fact that his son is currently in Iraq only make his efforts on behalf of the Demagogues that much more despicable.

"...asking why we invaded Iraq instead of Iran - the more serious problem."

Of course the Demagogue scum were only using that as a talking point.... they never had the slightest intention of doing anything about Iran on any level. Their mantra is "more diplomacy" event thought the EU-3 has spent YEARS trying to diplomatically beg Iran to curb its nuclear weapons program.

Agreed. They're now brazenly becoming the party of apologists for the Iranian mad mullahs who promote the murder of Iraqi civilians (Shia and Sunni) and American soldiers. That's how badly they crave power. It's Faustian Pact in it's dimensions and implications.

Karl Rove, you magnificent bastard!!! Well, not really. The Roves of the world are as responsible for the strength of the insurgents and other terrorists that our troops are in mortal combat with in Iraq (wouldn't say the same for Afganistan, but...). Rove's boss has a resurgent insurgency to fight over here now, too. Fair's fair, and I wouldn't forgive him if he were to cut and run. Especially when the enemy is well on the way to commiting a major blunder.
