Just one Likudnik neocon pimping for another, to be expected.

Reagan Democrats... "The term Reagan Democrat is used by political commentators to denote traditionally Democratic voters, especially white working-class Northerners, who defected from their party to support President Ronald Reagan, in both the 1980 and 1984 elections. It is also used to refer to the smaller but still substantial number of Democrats who voted for George H. W. Bush in the 1988 election.

The classic study of Reagan Democrats is probably the work of the Democratic pollster Stan Greenberg. Greenberg analyzed white ethnic voters (largely unionized auto workers) in Macomb County, Michigan, just north of Detroit. The county voted 63 percent for Kennedy in 1960 and 66 percent for Reagan in 1984. He concluded that "Reagan Democrats" no longer saw Democrats as champions of their middle-class aspirations, but instead saw them as working primarily for the benefit of others: the very poor, the unemployed, African Americans, and other political pressure-groups. In addition, Reagan Democrats enjoyed gains during the period of economic prosperity that coincided with the Reagan administration following the "malaise" of the Carter administration. They also supported Reagan's strong stance on national security and opposed the 1980s Democratic Party on such issues as pornography, crime, and taxes.[1]"

So I look at other issues, including WHO CAN ACTUALLY GET ELECTED, and I try to make a realistic choice among those who are running and can potentially win.

It's still very early in the process but events will bring it to a rapid conclusion so in effect time is of the essence.

If Giuliani is the GOP nominee I think it will turn the traditional red/blue state mix upside down or at a minimum revise which states are in play.

My only fear is that the election is so far away, and so much can happen between now and then.

Be afraid. Be very afraid.

We're up against the Clinton Smear Machine!

I hate to say it, but we might have to make some compromises in this next election. I'm pro-Second Amendment, anti-abortion and all that, but given a choice between a flawed individual like Rudy and an anti-American tyrant like Hitlary, I'd take Rudy any day.

At least Rudy realizes we're at war and still supports America in this conflict. If Hitlary gets elected, we're looking at a repeat of Vietnam and then some.

Amazing! We made it to post 19 without a snarky, childish dig at Rudy. So who is your choice? Duncan Donuts?

The problem is Mr. Hunter can not win against Hidibeast and Obamma Hussain (the "heir apparent to the throne according to the media and for sure her vice presidential pick should she get the nod from the RATS) in a general election and Rudy can... BIG TIME.

The greatest threat we face as a nation is the Islamofascist war on terror: They want to destroy the nation, kill, enslave or convert by force every last one of us, and Rudy could continue to fight and WIN that war. Of that I have no doubt. Everything else takes second stage because if there is no nation left what good would the rest be? I am a staunch conservative and if Rudy gets the nod, I will vote for him.

Yeah, it's truly a shame. A shame that career Republican Congressmen failed to address these issues too.

If RINO-rudy were a congressman, there is no doubt that he would have voted to extend, and perhaps make even MORE Draconian (like nyc) if he were a congressman, the so-called Assault Weapons (and hi-cap magazine) Ban.

This is because there is NO DOUBT that he supported it in the first place as a liberal inner-city mayor.

Those "career Republican Congressmen" you excoriate, at least MOST of them, voted to let this gun-grabbing law sunset.

The MSM (and misguided dolts on FR) wants him because it's a real smash in the teeth for social conservatives if he is able to get the support of the Republican party.

EXACTLY.

He's been a tireless... for countless numbers of GOP candidates throughout the USA.

They all lost... and we still have a liberal governor in Oregon...

I have yet to hear one negative thing about him,

His makeup, his dresses, his wives.

These are the things elections are decided on after all. For those who have no other issues.

"if" we had control of either the House or the Senate, these issues would not be so important.

WE don't, and that is the reason "why" these things are magnified abut Rudy.

I believe that when the GOP wins the Presidency, one of the Chambers will be regained which will make what you say a moot point.

No RAT elected for the WH is a huge win by itself, right?

.

Wrong. Name them ALL, beginning with President Bush in '04 and Governor Arnold in '06.

Your state is liberal infested, which is hardly Rudy's fault.

I hate to say it, but we might have to make some compromises in this next election.

Not if everyone shows up and votes during the primaries. In my view Guiliani, McCain, Hunter, Gingrich all all strong on the WOT, which I do feel is the number one issue.

Just have to choose amongst them.

The internet "true conservative", I won't vote for anyone, I'll stay at home, I'll vote 3rd party crowd excluded of course.

Yet, not one word from Giuliani about the treason, security leaks and sedition coming right out of the New York media...

No thanks...
