I believe this is true for leftists in all democracies. The left truly opposes patriotism, capitalism, free markets and freedom. But, they cannot acknowledge that to voters because they would lose elections if voters knew they wanted to rule to obsession.

By definition, capitalism and free markets oppose government control of citizens and business. The left can't have that happen because they lose the power they want.

Unfortunately it is not just the left in the UK the right use it as an attack on the left and in particular Blair.

Though they always cover it with but we support our soldiers in their mission etc etc so it leads me to believe half the time what comes out of a politicians mouth is not what the actually believe but what they believe is politically expedient.
