The 7-ton truck was part of a six-vehicle convoy on regularly scheduled training when it went off a dirt road and overturned sometime after 3 a.m., base spokesman Maj. Todd Sudmeyer said.
The accident occurred on the east side of the San Diego County base.
The injured were taken to local hospitals but their conditions were not immediately released.
The victims' identities also were not immediately released pending notification of relatives but all were members of Miramar's 4th Tank Battalion, Sudmeyer said.
Training at the base was suspended while the accident was investigated, he said.

Sad news,, Condolences and prayers to the family and friends of the lost Marine and for the full recovery of the injured Marines.
Convoy training accident.
Prayers for the dead, the injured, and the families.
This brings up a question I have been trying to research for a long time.
How many soldiers, sailors, marines are killed each year in non combat zones in the US, Europe, Korea, etc. in car accidents, training accidents, etc. I would almost bet it is more than those killed in Iraq.
I would hope not... but, since the exercises are designed to be realistic, it does increase the chances of accidents. Or, "that which doesn't kill you will make you stronger."
I wonder, in this case, what the exact cause of the accident was.
Was the cause ever determined, or still "under investigation?"
Amen to that.
