I didn't. Those two personalities seem like they're miles apart, it's hard to see them being the same on the political spectrum. But Buchanan left the Republican party, (where does loyalty show up on that scale of yours?)so we don't even need to consider the case all that much. It's kinda like saying Hitler and Stalin both agreed politically on the top 10 issues of the day, but there was enough difference between the two that they expended millions of lives in trying to wipe out the other's side.

Sorry, I wasn't referring to personalities--although it's becoming more and more apparent that a candidates' personality, family, religious affiliation, military service and other atttributes count for more in many voters' minds than where they stand on issues of major importance.

On the issues, can you discern any significant differences between the aforementioned Patrick J. Buchanan and your candidate, Rep. Duncan Hunter, leaving aside "national security"? (And please don't try to sidetrack this into who delivers the best oratory, has a winning smile, or worked for Nixon, OK? Stick with the issues you are concerned about.)
