Girls to fight ban on rebel-flag purses (School says Confederate image violates dress code)

It's a shame that it has taken a year in order for this lawsuit to get rolling, but I'm delighted that it's moving forward and Southern heritage is being defended.

It seems that whenever I see anything about Texas posted here at Free Republic, it's always about something GOOD happening there, and this is no exception.

Although I'm a Yankee Northerner and am trapped in the People's Republic of Washington State, this sort of thing makes me proud of our country and makes me want to visit the Lone Star State!

Thanks for supporting us Texans. Now do you have advice on how we can get rid of our socialist RINO governor?

I wonder what would have happened had they shown up with La Raza/Aztlan propaganda on their purses?

I hope the girls take the district to the cleaners. They allow swastikas. I'm also sure that they allow African heritage/centric clothing. More than likely anything Mexicali is allowed to be displayed. It's about damn time that someone stood up and screamed ENOUGH of this politically correct bullsh*t.

If course, it would have been just fine if they wore shirts depicting Che Guevera or Mao.

Oh for the Lord's sake! Haven't people anything better to do with their lives than to nit-pick and take affront over every little thing that they disagree with? Confederate battle flag purses being the latest object of a law suit - why not sue the Code Pink gals for wearing offensive T shirts, I could you know. Stupid is as Stupid does! Throw this out of court. Dumb, dumb, and dumber! GET A LIFE school officials - at least the girls showed some imagination when they returned with the bags marked "censored" - give them an A and fail the school board for being so politically correct.

The 6th Federal Court of Appeals has ruled on this issue a couple of times in favor of the kids that wished to display the Confederate Battle Flag. The NEA supporting leftist Democrat pOs that run the schools have to be taught a lesson, most believe that the liberal judges will side with them as in the 9th Federal Court of Appeals. Not in the SE US.

The ACLU only defends the leftists and Democrats.

There are lots of books, maybe even many in that school library, that have the Confederate flag on the cover. Kids ought to carry those around the school all day long.

That took some American Pride Gusto! Way to go ladies!

Trapped? The people in East Berlin were trapped. You're just not really interested in leaving.

"Texas students sue to carry purses decorated with Confederate flag ... Two Burleson High School students filed a federal lawsuit Friday against ... school officials [who] denied them the right to carry Confederate battle flag purses to school."

Here's a picture of the limp-wristed school principal named in the lawsuit:

Here's his contact info if you are so inclined:

Paul Cash, (817) 551-1065, 11701 South Fwy, Burleson, TX 76028, pcash@burlesonisd.net

I can't think of one thing that might make me want to visit the Lone Star State. But having said that, if the people there want to plaster the confederate flag on everything that they own then for God's sake let them! It's not my bag they want to stick it on. I don't have to look at it. It's nobody's business but the owner.
