It taught me the lesson that Hillary can't be entrusted to run anything.

...and if we don't have a consensus in the country that our present system is no longer adequate ...

This must be a Freudian slip. Their entire existence is based upon erecting negative illusions about non-problems. The economy rolls son, but they say it is bad. Deamonize oil and oil companies so they can grab up more power while appearing to "save" the planet. Make people think the best health care system in the world is actually inferior to the way our second world allies do it so they can consolidate some more power in DC. It really bugs me that so many are fooled by these charlatans.

Her "lesson" is try not enact Socialism by "Royal Decree" next time. Then:

"I want to take those profits from the oil companies"

Oops, there goes that power mad, lunatic, empress dictator voice in my head again, need to restrain it, restrain it, restrain it.

"Failed 'Hillarycare' Taught Me a Lesson, Says Sen. Clinton"

Let's just look at what those possible lessons were:

1. The need to have tighter control on those in the closed door meetings to prevent details from leaking out
2. A bigger blitz by fellow travelers in the media to gin up public support and drown out critics
3. Speaking of critics, the need for a bigger park and space for more people for those who dissent--use Gettysburg instead of Fort Marcy Park
4. Bigger funding for brownshirts at events to rough up critics and hecklers
5. Jail was too light a sentence for people who would seek private healthcare out of the system. Next time, summary execution is the penalty

Her Thighness will never admit that what the HillaryCare '94 fiasco taught her is that there's only one way to boil a frog.

Gradually......

The lesson was SUPPOSED to be that she needs to get out of Politics altogether.

Yeah, right. Probably the first thing she would do in office besides declaring the US to belong to her.

Nevermind, Hellery. Walmart will have its nationwide system of clinics open by election time next year and will be infinitely more effective in putting medical care in the reach of the uninsured than the feckless, wasteful government could ever be. The government is a bloated parasite that is working hard to kill its host, the US taxpayer. That is the height of stupidity, but emblematic of the short-sightedness of politicians who see their re-election as more important than the survival of the country.

When Hillary states "our present system is no longer adequate", she's not just talking about health care. She's talking about the US in general. She's the biggest socialist in the country with a taste for power.

I thought when you give someone a job to do and they fail miserably you don't use that as a good reason to promote them...

Hillary is just more careful. She's still committed to universal health care but won't try to push it through all at once. What a difference 14 years makes.

"increase the competitiveness of our economy and reduce the burden on individuals" If the burden isn't going to be on individuals, then who will it be on? Taxpayers? The biggest problem with our health care system is that patients are mostly insulated from the cost of their choices because someone else is paying. "Reducing the burden on individuals" when there are very few high deductible policies out there is absurd.

Typical liberal idiocy..."Focus on my dreams, and pay NO ATTENTION to my actual record."

It takes just two seconds for any thinking person to reduce liberalism to its basic phychological and philosophical terms. How can you tell liberalism takes its nod from full-blown Communism? It's all about the perfect future, all about the perfect plan, all about working together to achieve a common vision... And nothing to do with reality (i.e. history, facts, failures, costs, and consequences) can be allowed to have ANY bearing on these glorious plans for future perfection.

Liberalism is utter madness, and Hillary! is the rodeo queen of the loony bin.

provide quality affordable coverage to every American and increase the competitiveness of our economy and reduce the burden on individuals

1. No government agency has ever provided 'quality affordable' services of any kind. A definite oxymoron.

2. Tax increases will not 'increase the competitiveness' of the economy.

3. Tax increases and government provided health care will increase the burden on individuals, not 'reduce' it.
