Border agents who testified against convicted co-workers will be fired
Men who were at scene of shooting terminated for changing their stories
by Sara A. Carter
Two Border Patrol agents who testified against two co-workers convicted of shooting a drug smuggler will be fired for changing their stories about events surrounding the shooting, according to documents obtained by the Daily Bulletin.
Sources inside the Border Patrol also say Oscar Juarez, a third agent who testified against Border Patrol agents Ignacio Ramos and Jose Alonso Compean, resigned from the agency last month shortly before he was to be fired.
All three agents gave sworn testimony against Ramos and Compean for the U.S. Attorney's Office, which successfully prosecuted the shooting case in March. The agents were given immunity in exchange for their testimony despite changing their accounts of the incident several
"When you give deals to witnesses like immunity, the government usually gets the testimony (it wants)," said Rep. Ted Poe, R-Texas, a former judge and prosecutor. "This case is a perfect example."

Further, the site of entry of a bullet does not indicate the orientation of the person who is hit at the time the irrevocable neurological signal was sent by the shooter to his trigger finger. Force Science Institute at Minnesota State University at Mankato has done good work on this.
B-I-N-G-O !
You're a clown.
What hearings? I believe the administration is going to do all it can to sweep this under the rug.
Now that Feinstein is calling for them, along with a number of Republicans, I predict they'll happen. Of course she has her own motivations and they certainly aren't noble.
Actually he's no clown at all. Tony Snow has been all over the airwaves chastizing everyone to "read the transcript" and blowing the administration talking points that are dripping with lies.
There are a lot of people on FR who
need to get a good "dose" of this.
If these witnesses are being fired for lying on the stand during this trial, how can their convictions be upheld?
This new information will no doubt be included in their pending appeals. Can some lawyerly type tell us how long this process could take?
Swinney, our new FRiend GOPPachyderm would like to be on your border ping list. She's particularly interested in the two agents who are wrongly imprisoned, Ramos and ?
Thx, FRiends
I'm not a lawyer, but trained in the legal field and I can tell you that there are many reports that all these months after the trial, the transcripts are still "not available". No appeal can go forward without the trial transcripts.
IOW, you're all irrational...which leads to clownlike statements.

Osbaldo Aldrete-Davila The Department of Homeland Security's report on the case of imprisoned Border agents Ignacio Ramos and Jose Compean notes the drug smuggler they pursued left behind his cell phone, but there appears to be no evidence investigators made any attempt to identify him.
Moreover, the disclosure directly contradicts prosecutor U.S. Attorney Johnny Sutton's repeated statements that there was no evidence that permitted law enforcement officers to track down the drug smuggler, Osbaldo Adrete-Davila, for prosecution.
The DHS report, which was heavily redacted, notes the discovery of the cell phone as follows:
Aldrete-Davila stated that he had nothing in his hands as he ran toward the international border. When asked if he possibly could have had a cellular telephone in his hands, Aldrete-Davila reiterated that his hands were empty. He advised there had been a cellular telephone in the van, but stated it was left behind. [Agent's Note: The Form I-44, Report of Apprehension or Seizure, completed by Jose Compean, noted that a cellular telephone was discovered inside the van.
The DHS report failed to include the Form I-44 referred to in the above paragraph.
WND also has obtained a transcript of the testimony of Border Patrol agent Arturo Vasquez at the Ramos-Compean trial. On page 84 of that transcript, Judge Kathleen Cardone of El Paso quashes the defense attempt to discuss Davila's cell phone.
FIRED....that's IT?????
And, pray tell, what about anything I wrote to you indicates any "conspiracy theories"? It is a fact that Tony Snow has slapped people with the "read the trial transcript" BS and, in fact, there are numerous reports of no transcripts being available MONTHS after the trial.
If you think I'm full of conspiracy, I would counter that you are naive.
I'm sorry, but I don't find this statement very rational.
Yes,...too damn true!
I believe this is Pres. Bush's warning to anyone trying to interfer with the illegal traffic. Don't mess with the illegals.
I also believe Bush is attempting to purge the Republican Party of anyone who is against illegal immigration.
'splains alot about alot of whining coming from the "hopelessly liberal". Thanks.
