Border agents who testified against convicted co-workers will be fired
Men who were at scene of shooting terminated for changing their stories
by Sara A. Carter

Two Border Patrol agents who testified against two co-workers convicted of shooting a drug smuggler will be fired for changing their stories about events surrounding the shooting, according to documents obtained by the Daily Bulletin.

Sources inside the Border Patrol also say Oscar Juarez, a third agent who testified against Border Patrol agents Ignacio Ramos and Jose Alonso Compean, resigned from the agency last month shortly before he was to be fired.

All three agents gave sworn testimony against Ramos and Compean for the U.S. Attorney's Office, which successfully prosecuted the shooting case in March. The agents were given immunity in exchange for their testimony despite changing their accounts of the incident several

"When you give deals to witnesses like immunity, the government usually gets the testimony (it wants)," said Rep. Ted Poe, R-Texas, a former judge and prosecutor. "This case is a perfect example."

I heard someone the other day - not sure if it was Sara Carter or Jerome Corsi - saying a transcript was prepared but that Ramos and Compean's testimonies were missing. Not sure exactly what that means but will keep my eyes open for further information.

I don't know. But doing the right thing, the right way, is always harder, takes longer and is messier than the expedient way.

But I firmly believe it pays off in the long run. That is the difference between hysterics which can have dangerous unintended consequences and honestly wanting to see justice done.

The six small children are immaterial here, I'm sorry to say. "It's for the children" is never a good reason for bad reactions and worse precedent...from the left or the right. That is not to diminish the pain they are going through or the difficulty on the families. It just isn't an argument, because they would be having trouble even if these guys were absolutely guilty and there was no question about it.

And I recommend not name calling with a broad brush.

Oh wait, that's probably not possible for you. Apologies.

Not the people, the media. It reports only on activities, (real or imagined) of Republicans. The people never get a chance to hear what goes on. The people are busy, but I think they'd care about thses issues if they were aware of them.... Well, atleast some of them would ;)

IOW, you're all irrational...which leads to clownlike statements.

The government has gotten caught in what, four lies now, but WE'RE IRRATIONAL?

800 lbs of marijuana would give anyone a contact high after taking in a few breaths, just by virtue of its massive presence. UNLIT, it would smell even stronger probably. Anyone saying they couldn't smell it would have to show it was in the form of carefully vacuum-packed bricks using state of the art technology.

I've followed this case from the beginning. At this point I hardly think a pardon would be a hysterical response. It's looking more and more like they got a bad rap from the get-go.

However, I can certainly understand why they'd want to be exonerated, and perhaps the most expedient road to that is through hearings. It doesn't appear to me that a pardon will be coming anytime soon.

How unfortunate.

Yes. Tancredo met with the one who got beaten by criminal thugs in the prison. He was there with some people representing Rohrabacher, I believe. There are at least a few left in Washington who can, and hopefully will, uncover the truth of all of this.

I'm with you, this has been ridiculous from the outset.

A new poster here, kactus, provided some interesting info about the Trans TX Corridor. It seems that the bigger concept is to run that thing from Mexico to Canada, but not for Mexico, or South America. It's for China to strut their stuff throught the Western hemisphere. I'll look for that link.

This is important and all interconnected, I'm beginning to think.

I think the demand should be full reistatement, with a clean record or Sandy Berger should go to jail. NO FREEDOM FOR HERO AGENTS...THEN JAIL TIME FOR BERGER! a TIT FOR TAT.

DC, the guy had FOUGHT with the agents prior to shots being fired.

"FOUGHT" could mean struggled or resisted.

That's not grounds for firing fifteen shots...which incidentally the shell casings were picked up and not disclosed.

IMO, these are rogue cops and deserve what they got.

IMO, after they discovered his vehicle, they planned on stealing the drugs and go into business for themselves....thus the decision not to write a report.

Who's the naive one here?

Finally, just because I hold a liberal position on the social topic of illegal immigration doesn't mean I waive my rights to speak an opinion on it.

"FOUGHT" could mean struggled or resisted.

He hit an agent.

That's not grounds for firing fifteen shots...

If you are starting to run and then turn as if you have a weapon, you will get shot at

which incidentally the shell casings were picked up and not disclosed.

Please try to keep up. The supervisors were supposed to make a report and did not.

IMO, these are rogue cops and deserve what they got.

IMO you need to seriously catch up on the details of this story.

Finally, just because I hold a liberal position on the social topic of illegal immigration doesn't mean I waive my rights to speak an opinion on it.

After that comment, I think the DC in your screen name stands for "Dixie Chick". You speaking your opinion does not block my right for pointing out your errors expressed in such.
