Ice Age ‘07: Politically Incorrect Weather
CBN News ^ | February 9, 2007 | Dale Hurd

Posted on 02/09/2007 4:33:10 PM PST by holymoly

Someone apparently forgot to get the memo to winter about the imminent threat from “global warming.”  This story says some areas of New York State have received 100 inches of snow since last Sunday and could get 4 more feet, yes feet, next week.

Oh, pardon my ignorance. Global warming, portrayed by internet inventor Al Gore and some really smart people at the UN as the biggest crisis in world history, is now about climate change. So it can get really cold, and that also means it’s warming. And if you don’t understand that logic, you probably didn’t go to the right school.

Oh, and today the Boston Globe’s Ellen Goodman compared global warming deniers to holocaust deniers.  Nice. When do the show trials begin?

Remember those photos of poor polar bears supposedly marooned on melting icebergs? Did you also see the photos of the Swedish reindeer? You didn’t? The ones starving in Sweden  because the ice on the ground is too thick this winter? Now, there’s an inconvenient truth.

Well, do you remember this past hurricane season? No? That’s because there were very few hurricanes of any note. The climate change prophets of doom in 2006 predicted the meteorological equivalent of a disaster epic, with cyclonic monsters out for revenge because of all the damage your SUV did to the planet. Oops. Another no-show by nature.  I live a few miles from the ocean in Virginia Beach and I cannot remember a calmer hurricane season.

Hmmm…the weather is obviously not politically correct, even if The Weather Channel now is.

The city of Chicago was once buried under an ice sheet that was one mile thick.

Want to the earth to cool? Be careful what you wish for.

Now explain to me something else. About 15 - 20 years ago the rage was about all the smog, pollution, acid rain, nitrous oxide, etc., which was causing the global warming. It was going to kill us all by the 21st century. All the forests were going to be dead, we would breathe all the flouric acid and sulphuric acid which was going to burn our lungs up. The smog was going to be so bad we were going to go blind. What happened to all that stuff? At that time there was no mention of carbon dioxide. It was just a natural by-product of animals breathing and plants were changing it back into ocygen. Even the plankton in the ocean was seen as a countermeasure to the CO2. What has happened?

Now the culprit is simply too much CO2. No mention of the flourocarbons, nitrous oxide, ozone, acid rain, etc., etc., etc. Did the public finally get smart about the scam being pulled by the environmental wackhos?

Why is there no reporting on how much of the CO2 that is supposedly destroying us comes from the normal respiration of birds and animals. Why is there no reporting on how much of that bad CO2 is being converted back into oxygen. We now have more forests, vegetation, and plankton then we had 20 years ago.

Is this all a scam again with a different product?

And why were the English able to commercially grow grapes (for wine) 70 miles north of London in the 11th century. If your idea that warming one part of the globe means another part has to be colder, where was it colder in the 11th century? And during the little ice age of the 14th century where were the massive deserts to offset that bit of climate?

As I sit here in the coldest and snowiest winter since 1989 where is it that much warmer because I sure would like to go there.

Thank you.

President Bush better get FEMA up there quick. This is another Katrina in the making.

Well: Maybe not, Upstate New York is mostly White, so Jesse wont complain ,and then again the people up there can probably take care of themselves, unlike New Orleans.

It was 75 in El Paso today. I like my global warming just fine. BTW, we've also had 2 snow days at school this year.

Weather is not climate.

True, but they are related. There is less cold weather in a warmer climate. Also the maximum highs and minimum lows are higher.

No kidding. We got a double whammy of an ice storm that left me without power for a week then came the cold weather that keeps freezing my pipes even with heat tape on them.

"So let me get this straight. If it gets colder its GW, if it gets warmer its GW, if it rains its GW and if we have droughts its GW. GW doesn't mean the whole globe and as the climate gets warmer NA and Europe will get colder, even though the signs of GW are supposedly warmer temps in NA and Europe. Thank you Mr. Gore."

You got it...A+++++... WooHoo

"If, in fact, the climate as a whole is getting warmer, one of the short term effects will be colder weather in North America and Europe, as polar ice melts, drifts into the North Atlantic, and cools the neighboring continents."

Didn't happen during the Medieval Warm Period, when the temp was 2-3 C higher than current, and stayed that way for 300+ years.

The unwillingness of the IPCC and the UN to use the normally expected qualifiers for the research that they are supposedly reporting and the their need to publicize alarmist scenarios call into question the role of the UN as a manager or driver of science.

They have oversold global warming and fewer and fewer people are listening. They have overplayed their hand as expected.

"What will you do when he gets a Nobel? He has been nominated. Jimmy Carter got one."

Laugh loudly about the demise of respectability of the Nobel.

I'm sure old Alfred is generating high wattage by rotation in his mausoleum at what has been done to his once-respectable prize.

We are freezing our butts off up here in southern Wisconsin...I can only imagine what the northern half of our state is going through.

It's going on a week straight now that we've been below zero. In real temps; none of that "Wind Chill" cr@p.

We might make it into the 20's over the weekend. I'll be wearing shorts, LOL!

My co-worker in Mid-Missouri has a brother in the Rochester, MN area.

He said that his brother has taunted him about how the winter is milder
in Minnesota (in terms of snow/ice) than it is in Mid-Missouri.

We haven't seen more than a couple of days that have just topped
freezing since the second week of January.
And now the meterologists are predicting a "storm of the season"
on Mon-Tues that will top the 15" of snow that overwhelmed
Columbia/Jefferson City in December.

It may be global warming in the summer here (maybe five-six days
as high as 103-105)...
but we sure seem to have global cooling in wintertime!

I have one toilet that freezes when it gets cold and wont flush. Of Course its the one I use in the Middle of the night. So there I am on my knees cleaning up the mess at 3 in the morning. I havent found a plumber yet who can tell me why this happens as drains dont usually freeze.

By the way the heat tape works with electricity, If the power goes off, No heat.

My drains freeze too, I can cope with no water for a day or too but no drain sucks big time.
