Well deserved. "Too Tall" Freeman got it for flying the same mission.

That's good to know . . . on both counts. ;)

I got a bunch of Freemans in my directory. Do you have his first name?

Freeman wasn't killed. Freeman was Crandall's wingman during the Battle for LZ X-ray. He received the MOH within a reasonable time, probably on Crandall's recommendation. Crandall, who was in command of the aviation units flew the same missions that day but had to wait almost 42 years. Where's the justice in that?

At least he's still alive. Too bad LtGen (then LtCol) Hal Moore who was in command that day at X-ray didn't live to shake his hand.

Ed "Too Tall" Freeman. He still attends the Ia Drang reunions. He often wears his MOH ribbon with his suit. Nice guy and unassuming. He is getting on in years, as all of the Ia Drang veterans are.

Thanks, I'll check it out. My 2001 VHPA directory shows he lives in Boise.
