WASHINGTON (Army News Service, Feb. 9, 2007) - The White House announced today that President Bush will present the Medal of Honor to Bruce P. Crandall in recognition of his actions at Landing Zone X-Ray during the Battle of Ia Drang, Vietnam, in November 1965.
Aloho Ronnie, and I pinged him above.
And it ain't been "sir" for a long time. ;)
Well deserved. "Too Tall" Freeman got it for flying the same mission.
BTTT
Thanks for giving Ronnie the heads up...I couldn't figure out how to spell his screen name to save my life.
Absolutely awesome.
Better late than never I guess.
I should know the players of the 1st Cav better than I do. Freeman was a huey pilot during the Ia Drang battle who was killed??
I hope so, DAMN he deserves it!!!!
No...he is still with us. And, he is still tall.
Balls of steel. Unbelievable.
That's good to know . . . on both counts. ;)
I got a bunch of Freemans in my directory. Do you have his first name?
At least he's still alive. Too bad LtGen (then LtCol) Hal Moore who was in command that day at X-ray didn't live to shake his hand.
Bravo Zulu
Ed "Too Tall" Freeman. He still attends the Ia Drang reunions. He often wears his MOH ribbon with his suit. Nice guy and unassuming. He is getting on in years, as all of the Ia Drang veterans are.

Visit this site for Ed Freeman.
Thanks, I'll check it out. My 2001 VHPA directory shows he lives in Boise.
Nice.
When did Hal Moore pass away?
