As president, I will complete the border fence in six months."

It takes enforcing our laws. But a fence is much cheaper than the salaries of another 20,000 BP agents, for the long term.
It is not pandering to the right to buid a fence any more than it is pandering to the right to say we are going to crush the terrorists.
"I think the last time a House member jumped to the White House was Benjamin Harrison. "
I think the last time a liberal Mayor jumped to the White House was NEVER!
Better find a better pic of him. he looks Kerry orange. LOL
bump to a conservative candidate
Hunter could become a household name overnight with the right kind of PR push.
***Dirty Rats has a good plan that involved claiming to be the father of Anna Nicole Smith's baby. ;-)
Or you could try my idea of having Cheney resign the Vice Presidency for health reasons and nominate Hunter. Anything can happen.
I haven't heard that -- is there some kind of bad blood between George Bush and Duncan Hunter? People forget how much that actually means. Remember Ross Perot, whose family has been engaging in sort of a feud with the Bush family in Texas, which provided much of the impetus for his presidential run.
Hillary just killed her chances with the "I'll end the war" speech. She ran so far left so fast that she is sunk.
***I hope so, but it doesn't strike me as a Verrucktenfreude moment just yet.
I respectfully disagree. I do not believe that Mr. Hunter honestly believes that a fence will curb illegal immigration. The proposal of building a fence and its possible construction serves only to deceive people who can be deceived. It seems to me that I have seen photographs of Illegals crawling over fences Hmmmmmm. It seems that I have seen photographs of tunnels under fences Hmmmmmm. A true conservative would speak the truth and not act like a demirat. Demirats throw money at the problem. Conservatives fix the problem at the least expense to tax payers. Thus, it is pandering. He knows it will not work! The question is, Can any conservative in the white house stop illegal immigration? The answer is no! Not without a conservative and sincere congress. I think it is obvious through most poles that the vast majority of Americans want illegal immigration stopped! But, our government no longer governs by the will of the people! They govern by the money they can receive from special interest groups who will help them get re-elected. As I said earlier, he needs to make a good showing in Iowa or he is in trouble no matter what disingenious or ill-fated promises he makes.
Nailed it!!
Then how do you account for his getting the fence built near San Diego, and the corresponding reduction in the flow of illegals?
Everybody is unique in some way. Is somebody best for a position in FedGov? Will Hunter, for example, repeal the Treaty and vacate Federal access easements on private property?
Respectfully,
Isn't California still being flooded with illegals? I am not talking about slowing the flow, I am talking about STOPPING the flow! Only Fines for Businesses who hire them will do the job! Build the ball field "They will come" Take away the jobs "They will leave". Figure it out! have a great evening.
"Hunter could become a household name overnight with the right kind of PR push"
I wonder if any of the naysayers have considered that the "push" you speak of could very easily come from the "issues" groups?
NRA - GOA
Right to Life
All the family values groups
They all have extensive mailing lists and today you don't need to stuff envelopes, print mailers, buy postage, etc.
Just one letter and a click of a button!
"The only things that Duncan Hunter has shown are empty words, leavened with votes. I have no idea if he can delegate authority, and can get together a team to run his Cabinet."
So, Obama is a legitimate candidate with fewer qualifications than Hunter??
"Take away the jobs they will leave." That's not true at all, they can always come here and drop an anchor baby and go on welfare. This problem needs to be tackled on several levels.
I'm all for such fines, but saying that nothing else will help is like saying only a complete fumigation will rid a house of bugs. That's absurd.
(Incidentally, I don't mean to equate illegal immigrants to vermin with the analogy, by the way. I actually don't hold it against them if they are simply trying to come here to earn a good wage to support themselves or their families. We just can't allow them to do it without endangering the stability of our own country. You simply can't pull everyone into the lifeboat without sinking it, much as you might like to.)
Maybe the subtleties are eluding you, but the accomplishment I cited had to do with a particular stretch of the border, one which Hunter was capable of getting built. It will take action at a higher level to extend it across all of California and the rest of the US border. That doesn't mean the fence that exists has accomplished nothing.
Aside from the fact that your argument on the fence is absurd, you're trying to dodge your accusation against Hunter that he isn't honest in his desire to deal with the issue.
Ask Israel how that fence is working. Ask San Diego how their's is.
I will only vote for right wing cooks. Knowledge is power, and what the Americant's don't realize is that an authentic conservative movement, one that embraces the better side of the GOP, conservative libertarians, religious conservatives, and constitutionalists, could expand and gain great momentum in the next few election cycles, if people would stop listening to the media, rebuke the Rinos, and start working together. If Hunter loses, so be it. Goldwater lost in 64 and it took 16 years before a true conservative emerged vistorious; but it saved the country. I will not vote for a liberal Republican. I'd rather be the opposition party than the complacent majority.
I think Duncan is starting to get noticed.

There are other sites on the web highlighting Duncan. It could be the beginning of a snowball.
