Little Debbie Nutty Bars recalled due to metal particles

COLLEGEDALE, Tenn. (AP) --McKee Foods Corp. is recalling packages of Little Debbie Nutty Bars in two more states because an ingredient may contain small metal particles.

The Collegedale-based company said the snacks were distributed Monday through Wednesday in Ohio, the Chicago suburb of Lombard and Chicago's North Side.

McKee on Wednesday also recalled Nutty Bars in Georgia, Maryland, North Carolina and Virginia after they were put in vending machines Feb. 1 and Feb. 2.

The particles were detected through internal quality checks. There have been no consumer complaints.

The cartons have these codes: Guaranteed Fresh APR 01 2007, 01302093; Guaranteed Fresh APR 01 2007, 01312091; Guaranteed Fresh APR 02 2007, 02012092; Guaranteed Fresh APR 01 2007, 01312092; and Guaranteed Fresh APR 02 2007, 02012091.

In Lombard, the recall involves five 25.2-ounce cartons containing 24 bars, twin wrapped. The cartons have this code: Guaranteed Fresh APR 01 2007, 01302103.

In Georgia, Maryland, North Carolina and Virginia, the recalled Nutty Bars are in 12-ounce cartons containing 12 bars, twin wrapped, with carton-end codes Guaranteed Fresh MAR 31 2007, 01302091 or Guaranteed Fresh APR 01 2007, 01312091; 25.2-ounce cartons containing 24 bars, twin wrapped, with carton-end codes Guaranteed Fresh MAR 31 2007, 01302101 or Guaranteed Fresh MAR 31 2007, 01302102; and 3-ounce single-serve packages of two bars, twin wrapped, with the code Sell By APR 01 2007, 01312101.

Consumers who purchased the recalled products were asked to contact McKee Foods Consumer Affairs at (800) 522-4499 for information and a full refund.

Atlanta news stations used this little Debbie recall as an opening draw to their newscast 2 nights ago. No information unless you forced yourself to watch their program through a few segments and commercial breaks.

Disgusted, I found the recall on the web.
